God I am sooo Bored!!!!

Hey all, this is the hardest time of day for me. It's 4:30pm, baby is napping and the wine is calling.
Just needed to post to feel better, I am so Bored outta of my mind. It's too hot to go outside and I am too tired to clean.
Anyone else drink out of sheer boredom??
I will not drink, but I really want to...

Hang in there!

How about putting on some music to listen to and try to calm your mind?

Stay around SR and read and it will help to inspire you.

Hey Anna thanks I have been reading SR all day.. It's the only thing i can concentrate on.
Made it to day 3 today, so i shouldn't complain.
Being a stay at home mom is hard without family and friends.

Hey Beth
Yeah I drank out of boredom more often that not - it's got to be one of the most pathetic of all the pathetic excuses tho, hasn't it?

For me it was that I simply wasn't prepared to look at why I was bored.

Outside of the stuff that gives nothing back like drinking, what do you love to do? what inspires you? what relaxes you?

I play Scrabble on pogo.com when I'm bored like that. Keeps my hands AND mind busy. Maybe you could find a game there...they have oodles.

It's just hard too concentrate to do anything today except of course take care of baby. She'll be up soon, (3hr nap) soo there is that.
I guess I'll just concentrate on getting through this day.
I have been thru this phase of detox before (day 3), so hopefully will be a better day tomorrow.
I am not much of a game player, thanks tho.
I need to get a Life!
One day at a time..

You guys Rock! Thanks for replying!

I finally got on Facebook and have been playing the games where you build your own farm. I also have plans to make a throw (small afghan) at some point - knitting is relaxing (I only do one or two stitches though, ha) and I can just sit and watch TV and still feel like I'm "productive." And there's always eating (just kidding, but not really!)

I was really bored at first with sobriety, but for some reason, it seems to have dissipated. I DO get weary, though.

Hang in there alexvt!

Pamper yourself, you deserve it.
Do yours nails, your hair, put some makeup on. Many things to do to take your mind off your addictive behavior that has to stop. You can do this.
I hope you have 4 days now.
Congratulations!

After a couple years sober, that 'restless, irritable, and discontent' phrase from AA's Big Book sounded more modern as 'anxious, grouchy, and bored.'

In my way of thinking, this is the 'dry' condition. And unless I can experience the sense of ease and comfort of a few drinks, it's how I'm going to feel. The problem is, I'm an alcoholic, and I can't safely have those few drinks. Now I've got a real conflict going on.

That book tells me that I will remain in that state of conflict until I drink again, unless I can undergo an entire psychic change. It matches my experience exactly.
