What things make you the happiest?

Not sure if this is posted anywhere, but thought I'd ask.

For me;

Being sober

Laying on the couch or in bed in the morning and having one of my dogs come and lay their head on my lap and look at me with adoring eyes.

A walk through the woods on a cool crisp fall afternoon

A cool summer morning by the lake, the waves lapping at the shore, and no human sounds, just the sounds of nature

The smell of spring especially after a long cold winter

playing music, being with the people I love, and to wake up again every new day, and be sober....

not necessarily in that order

My little dog's smile.

When my husband comes home from work just dying to tell me something juicy about his day.

When my dad sends me an email.

Autumn (Right now, it seems it will never come. My gardenia is still blooming for Heaven's sake! But, soon, fall will be here.)

Clean sheets.

Bargains.

Not having to be drunk tonight.

Being sober
Any morning in the autumn, cool and breezy with the leaves changing, having a cup of coffee on the porch with my husband
Playing with my kids
Cooking and baking
Fruit picking with the family (especially in spring and fall)
Painting (canvas and furniture)
Reading
snowball fights
having picnics at the park
nature walking
exercising
the first 2 weeks of May when the blossoms on the trees bloom
watching movies
Learning something new
shopping
My birthday and my husband's
Planning birthday parties for my kids
Getting a new magazine - especially home decor and gardening
Food shopping alone lol
Going to the park with the kids
The beach (not the boardwalk... I'd take a beach without one in a second)
Travelling
Listening to music
Turning off my phone
Logging onto SR
a relaxing bath or uninterrupted shower
ok.. so many more but I've jotted down enough!

Anything that makes my dogs happy and healthy. Being sober is a big part of that. Going to sleep at night with my dogs on the bed all around me. Waking up to the sight of them sleeping peacefully on my bed. Taking them for the walks they love. Watching them enjoy their dinners. Giving them a biscuit or a chew bone. Watching them play.

And all these things are possible because I'm sober now! My dogs love me drunk or sober but I love them so much better sober!

- Autumn and rain. I feel slightly opressed by clear weather for some reason.
- Reading a good and informative book. It's so much more than just "relaxation", and can in no way be compared to watching TV.
- Working, when in a good "flow". I program computers for a living. It's relaxing work, as long as the computers behave.
- Solving problems of logic, math and language.
- Exploring nature.
- Working out and making progress.
- Laughing with friends. I need to remember how to do this without drinking...

Gosh I thought I was the only one...maybe its a Scandinavian thing:-)

There are many things that make me.happy, but for me, what I strive for, is to find joy regardless of where I am, what I am doing or what the circumstances are. If I rely on external things for the state of my happiness then my happiness is always somewhat precarious.

That being said...there is nothing so good for the inside of a man as the outside of a horse:-)

The top one would have to be being comfortable in my own skin..everything else is SOOO much more enjoyable then.

I am very very happy reading, with a pile of books beside me.

Attitude of gratitude throughout the day.

Helping others...........

Travelling!!

Breathing
Waking up and sitting outside before the sun rises
My grandkids
My daughter and son-in-law
Seeing my dog happy and walking her
Chocolate
Music
Hearing the birds chirp in the yard in the morning
Talking to my dad
Working out at the gym

Funny I was a depressed individual all my life until I stopped drinking, now I find pleasure in most anything

I’m happy to now have a clear mind.

I’m happy that I’ve stopped lying to myself.

I’m happy when my daughter says “Daddy, I love you”.

I’m happy when my son tells me a silly joke.

I’m happy that my iPod can take me away during weak moments.

I’m happy that each day is new, and I can choose to make the right decisions.

I agree with everybody...sleeping good, MUSIC!!!!, good company, reading, taking a drive in the country...but my fave is doing things sober that Ive done drunk so many times before, washing the car, bbq'ing or whatever...it's a great feeling, a victorious one.

Fixing & building things/getting things accomplished & done

Found out I just got an A+ in cost accounting for the semester so that just made me pretty happy. Only person in the class to get 100% on the 1st two tests...by a wide margin at that, next highest score was 93 on one and 91 on the other.

Dogs...dogs can always make me happy

Cooking/preparing random food for friends/family

Helping others solve problems...or doing it for them (yes I do realize that is being selfish)

Manual labor at times

Taking cool pictures

Body surfing large waves in the ocean

Driving fast on curvy roads on a nice day w/ no traffic
