No more raccoon eyes.

No more self loathing, or at least not much.

Spending time with my son and REMEMBERING doing so.

No more looking in the rear view mirror while driving - I'm not doing anything wrong!

For that matter, no more mystery dents and scratches in my car.

My wife talks to me again.

I don't reek like a winery anymore.

I care about how I look, yet still refuse to get a haircut lol .

My hands have stopped shaking...finally.

I think I'm growing to like myself again.

Skin and hair healthier
No more migraines
More energy
Way less anxiety
No shaking hands

I still don't feel as well as I would like. I assumed that every single ache and pain in my life would go away "puff" when I quit drinking. LOL...It didn't. It's loads better than it was, and I hope my physical health will continue to go upward and onward...I can't imagine the mental health improving since I'm already SOOOO much happier I can't imagine being more so.

In 5+ months, lost 35 pounds, significantly less anxiety, much calmer, no shakes, not as tired, facial skin normal, clearer thinking, good memory, a lot more patient, stomach not constantly upset, no hangovers, etc.

For those of you who have lost weight was it due to increased physical activity or just the lack of those extra booze calories?

I sure would like to lose some weight but one thing at a time..lol

less calories that go uncharted for me. Plus the fact I could wake up and start working out and better manage my calorie intake. If you can manage your emotional state not to freak out and drink I can also manage so I don't freak out and eat 10 apple pies.

So far I have noticed:

Not waking up passed out somewhere (couch, dd room, etc)
Not worried that hubby was gonna be mad at me for drinking too much
Not feeling worried and guilty and "what have I done, said, etc..
No hangover
no chewing gum like a mad woman, b/c hubby can't smell wine over gum, right?
sigh... I hope many more wonderful things to come...

Thanks for all the sharing...

Carrie, I am just under 3 months and have not lost massive weight but it is coming off. I think its that I am not drinking calories, I am eating healthy and thoughtfully and my body works more effectively. My energy has not surged back but is slowly improving
slow and steady wins the race:-)

I could have written this post!! will never forget the passing out and waiting for the hubby to come home from work to see if i had done/said something horrible the night before..........and trying to apologise for something I couldn't remember while trying to pretend I could.

Don't miss any of that.

Physically I feel better all round. But the biggest plus is my mental health. I used to start and end my days with hating myself, I no longer do that, and am finding out that I'm really a decent sort. I have my flaws but at least I'm not actively contributing to my own destruction...

....no more peeing the bed. LOL or better yet, peeing on my sisters sister in laws couch when i was too drunk to drive home and slept there. (never told her about it, was too mortified. just flipped the cushions )

no more heart palpitations

smoking more than i ever used to though *will eventually quit this too*
