TOPIC: I'm Called To Service And I'm Here
Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.
By the grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent had a
drink of alcohol since 8-11-90.
For that and you I am truely grateful.
It never fails that when I begin
to feel R.I.D. Restless, Irritable
and Discontent in my everyday
life, then it's time to step up to
the plate and help someone in
recovery.
The past 2 weeks Ive been trying
to lose some weight I gained from
my hip replacement last yr.. Im
not working, so Im not as active
as I would want to be. And....
at the 50 yr. mark my metabolism
is very sloooooow. lol
My mood is kinda low cause the
scale isnt moving fast enough. Ugg.
I went from dark brown hair, to
red, to blonde and back to black
all in 2 yrs. lol
RESTLESS IRRITABLE and DISCONTENT
can make one do many not so
normal things, including drinking,
using, buying, gambling......
Even drowning myself in a pint
of Blue Bell ice cream...lol
However......
Because I have a secure program
in place and practice it in my every-
day life to the best of my ability,
I can make better choices.
For that im extremely grateful.
I could have taken a drink or
ate that ice cream and yet I
knew what the consequences
would be.
Drunk and disgusted. Full of
shame and pity. More weight
gain.
Today I didnt have to do either
one of those things cause I have
the support of an awesome program
and online system to help me
out when i think im in trouble.
Im gonna lose weight....and it
will be slow.....but I know what
to look in foods that are healthy
and low calorie. And I don't
have to drink cause I remember
what it was like to be drunk, rehab,
rollercoaster rides.
It's not worth it.
Just stay in today and whatever
you did yesterday to stay sober,
do it again today and share ur
experiences strengths and hopes
with a newcomer.
Whew....I feel better already.
Thanks for my daily dose of AA
medicine for today.

Fantastic attitude Sharon! Losing weight in a healthy way is always slow (think: 1 lb. per week), so don't get discouraged.
But just imagine, in 15 weeks you could easily be 15 lbs less just by making simple calorie choices. Sounds like you are on the right path. Best wishes!
