Smile Good Books

If you can find the book which came out way before the movie Forest Gump was funny as all get out. It is totally different than the movie. Also Jimmy Buffett wrote a few books that were kind of out there , a little twisted some funny stuff and a lot of adventure. I liked the book Perfect Storm which also was a movie if your into reading about the hardships and lifestyle of offshore fisherman , which I can relate to cuz I used to do that in Florida , and almost any Military book be it about ww2 nam or more recent you cant go wrong , I highly recommend Band of Brothers also an HBO series but good reading as well as Wiseguys the book about the Movie Goodfellows was good. I am trying to find the book that inspired the movie BLOW. That has got to be a good one..............Happy Book Hunting.......Swag

The book that I am reading now is incredible. It's called "Life, in Spite of Me" by Kristen Jane Anderson. It's a true story, however it is really sad, so if you cry easily, might not be the one for you.

Dave,

If you like biographies about sports people, I recently read "Open" by Andre Agassi. It was fascinating, just so interesting. I couldn't put it down.

That's what happens when you are typing on a phone:-)

If you like military, which I typically don't, there is a book called "one bullet away" by Nathan Flick, I think. Its really amazing...its his experience as a classics major at Dartmouth to becoming a marine corps officer and the invasion of Iraq...one of the best books I've ever read.

Another Augusten Burroughs fan here...Dry is just genius.

If you want some serious brain candy, anything by John Grisham is great. I just finished reading "The Chamber" and loved it.

I second "A Prayer for Owen Meany"--one of my favorite books of all time. John Irving is brilliant.

Anything by Nelson DeMille--my favorites are "The Gold Coast" and "Cathedral".

I also recently finished reading (for the second time) the ENTIRE Harry Potter series. Though the first couple of books are written at a level suitable for young readers, the writing and story are entertaining enough to grab adults, and the later books become increasingly complex. Couldn't put them down the first time through.

The Harry Potter books rock! They're not just for kids (well, the first is geered towards kids, but they get increasingly long and complex). It's a wonderful world to disappear into, with good amounts of humor.

If you like SciFi, Ira Levin's "Rosemary's Baby" or "This Perfect Day" are great--you enter into another totally different world.

If you like vampires, the "Twilight" series are fun and mindless entertainment.
