Support from a Friend

I had a visit from a good friend yesterday. I told her before she arrived that I am not drinking anymore, and she totally respected my decision. Although our visits in the past few years have almost always involved drinking, we enjoyed a wonderful evening together completely sober. 11 days today!!

A round of applause to you for getting 11 days and for sharing your sobriety with a friend. That's awesome.

Wow, that is so great. Aside from my husband, and one friend, I have not told anyone about my choice to stop drinking. I applaud you for being so honest, and sticking with it.

Nicely done! Doesn't it feel awesome when that happens? I did the same with my best freinds this summer during a bachelor party for my freinds wedding. We used to drink heavily all the time, especially me though. I told them about my sobriety and they respected it so much and told me they loved me more than having drinks. I couldnt believe how great that made me feel.

Hang onto that and best of luck in the days to come.

She sounds like a very good friend.

I'm glad that went well for you and she respected your boundaries.

That's an awesome feeling. My first week of sobriety a friend came over who I often drank with. We realized that we had never hung out NOT drinking before. We had a great conversation and I was so surprised by my ability to have a good conversation NOT drinking. Glad you have support : )
