I hate my alcoholism!!!!!!

I was doing pretty good.

Was already to go to an AA meeting.

I have been trying so long to stay sober!!

I won't get into my mental issues, but my one and only friend who understood about my mental issues and my alcoholism died a year ago tommorrow.

She never drank, but she understood me. It was soooooo hard to see her suffer from lung cancer for 5 years and then it hit her brain.

She was beautiful inside and out and never complained about her cancer, in fact the only thing that bothered her was "bothering people" to ask for rides to get to appointments.

Anyway I am off the subject. I also lost my Dad recently.

So I do as all alcholics do that don't have support....I drank.

I am not going to give up. I will start again.

You can still go to a meeting. You can put down the drink and not pick it back up. Part of living a sober life is learning how to deal with life on life's terms. We can all find an excuse to drink, some more powerful than others, but there is always an excuse.

Hey Jamison!

Sorry about your recent losses. A lot of mental issues are tied to alcohol abuse. It might be helpful to see a CBT if these issues are serious and are derailing your attempts at sobriety.

We are all here for you!

Thank you LaFemme.

I do have a great therapist.

I feel like I let her down too now.

But.........I will not go on some kind of binge.

I will pick myself up and go back to the only thing that is imporant in my life and that is getting sober!!!!

Jamison, I'm sorry you've had to deal with these tough things. I know how hard it is to lose the people you're close to. But someone on this site once said something that helps me when the times get tough. I'm paraphrasing because I don't have the exact quote (and can't remember who said it, but I'd like to thank them), but it was along the lines of, "I used to make up any excuse to drink. Now there's nothing in this world that could make me have a drink." The thing is, if I'm dealing with something tough, it may make me want to have a drink. But I know that there's always something worse that could be going on. So if I can't handle this situation without booze, how would I handle it if things were worse? If I can't get through this problem without alcohol, I'm doomed for anything harder that comes along.

I hope that made sense. It did in my head.

I'm sorry for the painful losses. I lost several people I was close to and I know how tough and painful it is.

You can have a sober life. Please keep reaching out and don't give up.
