20 days sober
20 days sober
I haven't been on in a while. I've been very busy and have found other outlets for my recovery. I finally made it to my first AA meeting on the 13th day of my sobriety. It was just as hard as I thought it was going to be, BUT I did it. I went to my second meeting yesterday. That was also hard. but I actually was able to talk through all the tears this time. I'm thankful everyday for my recovery and battle each day with my first step. Today we talked about accepting.... I was raised a perfectionist.... and accepting fault has never been an option to me until now. I know I have to choice to allow myself to be imperfect. I'm not perfect and I don't have to be. 'God grant me' is all I need to say when i doubt myself. Thanks for everyone's support with all my posts thus far.
One day, one choice at a time. Today I will be sober!

Great! I'm only 2 days ahead of you. I'm trying to keep the first 12 or so days permanantly engraved in my memory as a tool to use, I never want to detox like that again! Was rotten. Best of wishes to you.

Hey JMF, congrats on 20 days and getting to meetings. We sure do have a lot of them here in Albuquerque! I go to one everday at 6:45 am. . .and sometimes others. If for some reason you are not happy with the one you have found, try others. the list in mighty long!
Good job on 20 days!! I know exactly what you mean about having to be perfect, not wanting to admit defeat, and accepting/loving ourselves even though we're imperfect. I try to say to myself "you're OK just the way you are." Infact, we're not just OK, we're worthy of love and support.
So, give yourself some compassion and caring, and know that we're all in the same boat not only as alcoholics, but as human beings and it's OK to need a little help from time to time.
