Day 2: sober
I made it thru last night, no bourbon, so today begins day two. I actually slept, woke up without being sick. Thanks so much to all of you for your support and advice. Thank you so much. One day at a time.

Congrats!! One day at a time is the way to look at it. And I'll tell you what. Even that scares the crap out of me. When I am not at work, I have to look at it as one hour at a time, because I know that if I can make it this one hour, then I can make it the next one hour. To focus on the whole day...I'm just not there yet. But, it's been working for me so far. With the help from the people I have meet at my AA meetings, and all the wonderful people on SR...things are looking up, and I'm loving it!

Good start! glad to hear you slept and felt WELL this morning. it gets a little bit better every day. I definitely prefer coffee and breakfast over a barfy hangover/pounding headache any day of the week.
Good show, im not far ahead of you and it really does get better daily, a lot better. Just protect your progress, especially this weekend. I have already had to say no thanks to a trip to the beach invite with some old friends tomorrow...they will have at least 4 cases of brew on ice. That's just me, you might be a lot stronger than me but a trip to Galveston with dozens of cold beers and I promise you I'd be on here Monday with a new thread titled..."Dammit, I did it again"
Congratulations, Mr.Serious! Every day is a total success if we stay sober. There's nothing like a hangover-free morning, and it just gets better. I remember even smiling when I woke up that first week or two and feeling a sense of peace laying there in my bed, thinking about coffee and toast rather than "how am I going to get through another day like this?"
Keep hanging out with us and taking it ODAAT - you can do it!

Hang in there.
2 days quickly turns into 2 weeks, which turns into 2 months which turns into 2 years and so on and so forth. You gotta want it bad enough and be willing to ride it out; if sobriety is truly the most important thing in your life, you will achieve it.
If it's not, well I think you see where I'm going with this...
