Hi All

Hi everyone, been lurking for a couple of weeks since I quit drinking 18 days ago and found you guys on the interweb.

I never considered myself an alcoholic, didn't drink in the morning or get the shakes etc., but I reckon I was drinking about 80 to 100 units per week. I felt crap all the time and thought enough is enough. I'm 48 years old and have been drinking 'above average' for the last 30 years!!!

I read a book by Jason Vale called "Stop Drinking 4 Life Easily" and it really made me see alcohol in a different light. I honestly have no desire for alcohol at all anymore because I now see it for what it is.

Alcohol is a highly addictive drug which is also a depressant and a poison which screws up your liver and makes you feel crap.

I have been very tired since I quit, hoping this fades soon, apart from that I feel great,

Great forum by the way, thanks for being here, have had a lot of encouragment merely lurking...:c031:

Welcome- I'm glad you are here! I'm at the beginning myself. 14 days sober today and feeling very positive about the future.

Life is so much better without alcohol.

It will take a while to heal, I'm sure.

I am tired all of the time as well. But hopeful that it will get better.

Welcome. I'm 47 years old and also spent nearly 30 years of my life drinking. Just joined this group today. I've been sober for 18 months now and it's amazing - never imagined that my life could be so good.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

I reckon the biggest regret (more like the only one) I am going to have is not going sober sooner, Indeed, been thinking about it for some time.

Feel so good in so many ways, just been to see some friends at the pub for a couple of hours, they were all drinking and I was genuinely content with a soft drink.

Would have never thought it possible.

Lost a noticeable amount of weight in the short time, but I reckon I was drinking about 9000 calories a week so it's hardly surprising when you do the maths.

Me too

Two things...

Glad to see some people have drank as long as me. 30 years. Daily. It gives me some hope. All of you are better than me, though. I haven't stopped completely. The wifey has made it clear, that until I do, I can't come home.

And I agree...

It just seems so late in the game. But I have to try.

I guess I want to believe that I WILL begin to feel better. I want to feel better.

Welcome SD! Glad you're feeling positive about your sobriety and congrats on 18 days!:c011: I drank for a long, long time, too and had a few periods of sobriety. So glad to be back at it.

Keep trying, Nightwolf - it's NEVER too late to get sober!
