Stress!!!!! Arghhhh
Question:
Are Stress and Alcohol BFF's? They want to team up against us poor alcoholics??? :rotfxko
Having money issues, car issues, husband issues...you name it. Wish I was on a beach somewhere with a big piece of chocolate cake, but I guess I have to settle for a walk around the neighborhood
No worries, I'm not going to drink. 5 days sober! WHOOT WHOOT.

for me also...I do not blow things out of proportion...the only exercise I used to get was "jumping to conclusions". Now things do not seem to feel as mountainous problems, I just see them differently and deal with them as they come up.
a lot of my stress was due to sleep deprivation (I think)...a deep, normal restful sleep has a big impact on feeling calm, vs. passing out type of sleep.

:ghug3 way to go on your 5 days....................it can only get better. For me AA gave me the tools to handle any situation once i dont try handle it by nyself it works out
I hope your walk was nice!
I find that once I have personal issues arise, like a fight with my husband, is when I have the deepest drive to drink.
Other times are when the bills come in the mail, when my kids are acting up, or when there is just plain old STRESS... so I guess you are right in saying that stress and alcohol are BFFs.
Perhaps it's just that we had taught ourselves to treat the stress with a drink instead of really facing the issues at hand?
I don't know, I'm completely new to this myself!

When I get really stressed out I give my dogs an extra walk. Their 'stress walks' have been greatly reduced the longer I'm sober...
Another thing I've learned is exemplified by this saying: "Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional." It's how I react, not the stimulus that causes the reaction...
And just by staying sober I'm eliminating a lot of alcohol-induced stress and suffering.
