Double Digits Well today is day 10. I thought I would feel better by now then I actually do. Mornings are nice, yet still strange to not grown in pain upon opening my eyes. Still get cravings a lot. I hear the sluggish and sleeping gets better. I hope the cravings do to. Anyway, happy double digits to me..... |
Good for you, HFA! I think you will continue to feel better each day. |
Double digits! Way to go! :c011: |
Way to go on your early sobriety.....:funjump: Here is my exoerience with cravings... think there are 2 types of cravings perhaps a mixture? One type is more a habit than physical. You drive home and your car steers into your favorite bar or package store. You come home tired...sit in "your: chair and want the usual comfort of a glass/can in hand. To sleeep better...toss down a drink. These can be avoided by changeing your routine Drive a different route Change the furniture around..sit in a different place. Fix a glass of anything non alcoholic. If you drink booze from a can...use a glass If you did drink from a glass...use a mug I did time my cravings in early sobriety. Mine were 5 to 7 minutes in duration. seemed forever...but that was false. I took action....drank cold watter ...brushed my teeth went for a walk...danced around the room...ate Lifesavers I was also taking a multi vitamin and a B 12, I was following an eating plan for hypoglycemia Within 2 weeks they lessened immensley... in both intensity and duration By 2 months they vanished :yup: |
Yeah for double digits! Congrats! I cannot wait till mine! 7 more days! Keep up the good work! |
Congratulations, HFA! I hope you start feeling better soon. I found that I had bad days and good days (hmm... just like real life!) The really strong cravings went away after 2-3 weeks. They don't hit me like a 2x4 anymore. One thing I've realized is that I always drank to change my mood (enhance it, suppress it, whatever). So it's not always easy to just sit with whatever I'm feeling these days. But it beats spending each morning feeling sad and sick. And I WANT to figure out how to be bored or even unhappy without picking up a drink. This recovery thing is a process, a journey - it's going to take time to learn to do things sober again. Ten days isn't a long time, really. :grouphug: |
Ten days sober is great!:) You will start feeling better, but since we didn't get this way overnight it will take a while to 'fix'. Don't give up. |
Ten days is great HFA...:D keep in mind, if you drank like I did? you drank for years and not particularly in gentle fashion... I was impatient too but I learned I had to cut myself some slack on the recovery time It takes what it takes... :) D |
Congratulations HFA! You can do it. I am proud of you. |
