Maybe it being the 4th of July weekend, but I just have wanted to drink so bad the last 24 hours or so. I am still going to meetings, talking with recovery people all of the time, and working on step work. I just feel totally alone and want the comfort of the alcohol. sucks. I have 19 days. this lonleliness feeling sucks mega and I feel like a whimp even mentioning this. It's like I have this feeling that( but don't want to ) it's not going to be any better not drinking.. just depressing, plus it's raining here.. lol. thanks for reading.

some days are like that...living life not drinking is kinda like learning to walk all over again...it's hard and frustrating and seems a little endless sometimes...but please do stick with it...you'll be glad you did

Pete,

I am 21 days sober today. When I got home yesterday afternoon I had absolutely nothing to do and I don't have anywhere I have to be until Tuesday. In the past I'd drink the weekend away. I am having very bad cravings and miss the bottle. I went to a meeting yesterday and that helped. I'll probably go to another one this evening. I really hope this gets easier.

I was invited to a couple of get togethers this weekend but I declined. I thought it would be easier if I wasn't around alcohol. I actually went into work today just to pass the time and to take my mind off the booze.

All we can do is stay strong and not throw away the progress we've made.

The good thing about holidays is that they don't last too long. But I know it's tempting to imagine that we're missing out on something, even if we're not. Patience is the key for days like this.

Try to think about some positive things in your life, things you have to be grateful for. And if that doesn't help, just hang out here and read. Whenever I do that, it brings reality home. The cost of going back to drinking is a price that's just too high. If we put in a little work now, we'll reap the benefits later.

Hope you can find a way to put your mind at ease.
