Day one
Day one
Stopped for 40 days once. But now Im single and have much time on my hands. I cant go more then a few days. Smoking too, hate that I smoke even more then the drinking. Will drink between 12-18 light beers a nite.
Ok going to bed now before I talk anymore about beer and go get some.

Hi HFA
I hope you'll post a little more - I understand talking about it can be a trigger, but you can get past triggers, and you'll find a lot of support here when you want it.
Welcome to SR

HFA,
I am single as well and I know how hard too much alone time can be. I spent the whole past weekend alone NOT drinking and it was really hard. I know one of my strategies should be to get out - make a real effort to connect with others - stay busy. I think that will help me keep adding days right now. Maybe that could help you as well.
I am right there with you with the smoking thing. Since I have quit drinking I have been smoking like a fiend. I absolutely hate it, but plan to work on that next - just feel like if I gave that up right now too I would definitely lose what's left of my mind.
Hope you sleep well - when you wake - it is day 2.

Welcome HFA - I'd say it's better to quit drinking first and then deal with smoking, unless you can do it together, which some people can. Either way, just try to take it a day at a time. You can do it and you'll find alot of support here at SR.
Welcome to SR! For a while after I quit drinking just thinking about it was a trigger to me, but now, after almost seven months, thinking about drinking just gives me a sick feeling in my gut, like an allergic reaction. Hang in there, it will pass.
