$ Money saved $

If you have been saving money that you may of spend on alcohol, what would you spent it on now?
I took a calculated guess when I quit and started putting money away in July 2009; $200.00 dollars a month. This July we are taking a trip to Mexico, just waiting on my Visa now.
Would love to hear what you may of spent the money on.

I took my mom on a trip that I otherwise wouldn't have. Quitting drinking alone was worth that.

I'm with Dee, too...I sure eat a lot better!

First things first--paying off the debt I have because I couldn't manage my finances while drinking.

I let myself dream a little bit about what I might be able to do in the future. Coffeenut, it's funny you mention that you took your mother on the trip; that is something I have always wished I could do. Maybe one day it will now be possible.

Grocery shopping and cooking are soooo much more fun !
Finally ;...... healthy meals.

Also, ...fortunate to have the extra ferns (from not drinking ) to buy a new fridge when mine went on the blink.

It will be nice to have$$$...I just want to look at in the my account.
Keep me out of debt.

Would spend about $100 / night or more when I went out...usually resulted in
me jonesing and credit carding my until payday.

Gonna spend it on golf lessons, good food, and maybe meet a girl so I wont be
so falling down drunk and wonder why they never call back.!!

only been quit 2 weeks tomorrow and have already saved 400 we were blowing over 800 a month on liquor
we have made reservations to take a trip to Mammoth caves in Oct we will take our Motorhome and spend a week in the woods and seeing the sights, fishing and hiking trails our campground is all adult with granite outdoor kitchens with fireplaces and a Hot tub.
I think for us making plans and having positive things to look forward to are very important.

I have a lot of student loans and a small amount of credit card debt that I intend to pay off by the end of the year. Even last week, when I'd pay on my credit card I'd just go to the liquor store and get wine, thus defeating the purpose of paying down my debt. It's going to be nice to not see those charges on my statement anymore!

well, i'm putting some of it in the basket when it comes by...
No where near as much as i'm saving as everyone would look at me like a freak if did but even throwing $5 in makes me smile at how cheap my evenings have gotten...
So let's see, a $15-$25 bottle of wine a night, twice that on the weekends... some blow, a pill mixed in...
what's the monthly payment on a nice used Ferrari??
