7 days sober!!!!!!!!

For the first time in a very long time I have made it through a whole week without drinking. I am sleeping better and have more energy and don't feel like a bloated whale.

Then why do I feel so down today? I should be be really happy but just don't feel it.

Best wishes all.

Spikeman.

Hi,

Good for you!

It usually takes some time for your body and your mind to adjust to life without alcohol. Be patient with yourself, and hopefully your depression will lift.

I'm there with you spikeman. I'm on day 6 and I feel pretty down as well. I have no appetite on top of it. Trying to stay busy cleaning and taking care of the kiddos, but yeah...mostly just blah. It'll get better. Stick with it!

Congratulations on 7 days! It's hard in the beginning while your brain is trying to find it's groove. It gets much better.

Congrats on the 7 days Spike. As all have said above it takes a bit of time for your brain to re-adjust. There will be some days where you feel down but don't let that stop you because it gets better and better.

I always found the first week or two to be very stressful and difficult. As was said, stick with it, it does get better.

I think it's possible that an appreciation for the time off drinking could appear more strongly in a little time. I don't know if you have looked at the PAWS thread, but I took a look a couple of times, and it makes sense for me. There will likely be a long time of ups and downs. I have times when I feel like saying "big whoop" or "big deal". Compare this weekend with next weekend, you might see a difference for the better.

Thanks for the post , Spikeman

Congrats on the 7 days too !!!

For me , the first 12 days were the roughest, ......on many different levels.
Did you try out a meeting down there this week ?

Hang in there , my friend

Thanks for the support and encouragement! I'm on day 8 now and still going strong. Went out for dinner last night and can remember what I had! I didn't even go to the bar in the hotel.

Really don't know how I haven't had an accident over the past 26 year, or got busted for DUI. Very lucky I guess. With some of the stupid things I've done when drunk, I really should be dead right now.

Topspin, no I haven't been to a meeting. I checked in to them, but made the decision that I wanted to do this myself no matter what. Though I am very grateful to all of the SR people for their support and that gives me strength.

Best wishes all.

Spikeman.
