No, addiction counselling's not for you mate. Saying to an alcoholic that it's OK to get drunk once in a while is like saying to a condemned man you don't believe in capital punishment, and then releasing the guillotine.

Well not everybody can choose a career based on love, commitment, passion, most of use have to make money for a living. And living in poverty for the rest of my life is not something I am willing to take.
The best counsellors have a vocation, not simply a job IMO.

Like I said darklide, find something you love, and that you're good at. Your future is only limited by your imagination.

That advice may have killed me, I'm afraid.

You have a lot of thinking to do.

Thanks, I do understand that many people choose alcohol and drugs for many reasons, stress, sometimes mental disorders, coming out, ect. As a counsellor you got to find out why and refer these people to the right person so they can get help with the above issues then start working on their addiction.

Hi again.

I never chose alcohol - that was the problem - that I had no choice. I just drank because I was addicted.

And I didn't drink either because I was stressed or had mental disorders. I drank because I was addicted.
