I now know I'm truly dedicated to recovery/sobriety

I was out of gas, out of money, and wasn't able to find a ride to AA today. So I walked there in the rain. It took two hours. There were times when I felt I was ready to collapse. But I kept walking until I got there. I didn't even allow myself to sit down and take a breather because I had no time to spare. People tell me that if I'm truly ready to get sober than I have to be willing to go through any lengths. I think a fat guy walking for two hours in the rain to attend a one hour meeting is a good start. I still have a lot of work ahead of me though, it's only day 3. But I have a disease that is trying to kill me. It almost did last time I got drunk. I would walk 4 hours to avoid feeling the way I felt a few days ago.

Well done, my friend.

I'm in the middle of a 1 year license suspension and I've walked to many a meeting. It's true, we can get sober no matter what is going on in our lives.

That's a great attitude, suic. Hopefully you found someone at the meeting to give you a ride home and pick you up for future meetings.

That's how this thing works, by the application of what willpower we do have to the desire we have to stay sober. Page 164 of the Big Book says that we "will surely meet some of you as we TRUDGE this road to happy destiny". Hope I meet you some day on that road. God Bless
