40 Days Today!
40 Days Today!
I wanted to post on my 30th sober day but that would be so cliche lol! So here I am 40 days in and I just wanted to say thanks to those here that helped me through the rough patches (my first 15 days were brutal)
Not much to add about 40 days in, except that things actually do look brighter now. Brighter in a literal way. I mean, grass really is greener and the sun does feel warmer. Weird. The gray hues are gone from my drab and depressing mornings - come to think of it, my drab and depressed mornings are all but gone as well. Bloody cool! Without that alcoholic mountain casting shade on everything, just about everything has more substance, meaning, and more hope.
I am really starting to understand that there are things in life that matter, things worth approaching with a clear and sober mind. For those in their first week that need a reason to keep going, I am here to tell you that it really and truly gets better with time. Don't give up!!!
Gotta say, thanks to this site, the people here, and the advice I never took before. I can truly see a future without that damned bottle cursing my every move.
So, again, thanks SR and big ups to those who keep it real on this site. Your words are golden to many of us early on, and for me anyway, they have kept me from boozing my face off more than a few times.

AWESOME POST!
Congratulations on 40!!!! Isn't there a saying "Life begins at 40"? Sounds like you are well on your way to more wonderful sober days ahead. I agree, too, that everything is in shades of grey while we're drinking. Hard to see it until you step out into the color again! Way to go on your sobriety!
