Brain Fog
Hi
I ws wondering if anyone can explain to me what Brain Fog is? I see it refered to alot here.
I have greatly cut down my drinking (but not stopped yet) and I am experiencing a very strange feeling in my head. I have had it for about 2 weeks now. It am unsure how to describe it. Instead of waking up with a hangover I wake up initially feeling good but soon turns strange.
Sometimes it makes me very dizzy and I feel like I am going to faint. It also makes me feel very anxious, which I really dont like. When I walk to lunch through the crowds of people, everything feels very surreal.
Generally I just feel as if my Brain is numb. I think I may be experiencing "Brain Fog".
Can someone please tell me some of their symptoms? Would really like to think that this is going to go away when I finally manage to quit.
Many thanks for all your help.

Ditto on seeing the doctor, particularly before you quit altogether. Alcohol is powerful in a lot of ways. For me brain fog is pretty much synonymous with "spacey," and I have that in spades for the first week after I quit: it is slowly getting better, if I am qualified to make that judgment!
hi scotslad - if you Goggle "brain fog" you'll see it could be caused by any number of things/conditions. Of course, alcohol damages almost every organ in the body (which they never tell you on the label!) so I guess you'd have to quit drinking to find out if it goes away. I definitely was starting to have the first signs of health problems, which is one thing that helped me say "no more."
