Hi im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

By the grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90.

For that and you I am truely
grateful.



Like most people new to the
program I set out to find an
easier, softer way.

As the Big Book suggests,
I could not.

When I couldn't find an easier,
softer way, I looked for the
person with the magic wand,
the one person in AA who could
make me all better, right now.


This was a frustrating task, and
I finally realized that if I wanted
this life, I was going to have to
do what the others had done.


This program is for people who
want it, not people who need it
and for me I want this program
and I need it everyday.


Here is a little something to think
about during the day......
While it isn't always easy, if I
keep it simple, it works.

thank you for coming back to tell all us newbies that it does work. I have 17 months & only for ppl like you to carry the experience i would be lost. Congratulaions on your journey

many one days at a time
collected together to get
u where u r today.

What a personal accomplish-
ment that is in itself.

Just like many of us that
are carrying the message
to the newcomers, so can
you.

Just as many that r following
us, so will they with u as u
continue to share ur ESH...
your own experiences, strengths
and hope of what it was like
before during and after drinking
or using.

Helping the newcomer is what
keeps us sober a day at a time.

That is what my purpose in life
is for me today.

Continue on ur journey giving
what was so freely passed on to
u away to others.

Thanks for the inspiring post. I am back on day 1 today, going to a meetng (my first AA) tonight have tried NA in the past as I have other issues but it just wasnt working, lack of females in my area at meeting 1-2, not a lot of newcomer love, sort of very cliquie, I got 2 phone numbers with an open note book out of 10 meeting and that was (as usual) becasue a gentle man directed me to them and introduced me, otherwise they werent headed my way. So I hear a lot of people with Alc and drug issues will do AA b.c its a little more structured and is really about the newcomer and I REALLY need that, after this relapse after only getting 8 days and was going strong.
But of course since it was a relapse I did something really stupid Sat night I dont even remember that was completely embarassing to me (I have no recollection) devistating to my husband and I probably lost a good freind b/c of it.
I am happy thats not your life anymore, I am very proud of you, hopefully 1 day you can say you are proud of me. THats my dream for anyone sober and here at my SR that I love so much <3 Dream
