bring it on day 5
Thanks Almath. I have no intention of going near that bottle. Yuk. Like you, I have some horrible memories of the evil witch alcohol turns me into. I only have to think about the events of two weeks ago today and my blood runs cold. I feel lucky to be given this chance to make things right!
Good luck to your husband on his run. My mum and Dad used to run marathons and I did a half marathon walk last year for the local hospice.
I'm sorry to hear about your mum and I will think of you and her in my prayers. Good things can happen though. My lovely dad is 79 and was given the all clear from prostate cancer earlier this year. He had a long course of radiotherapy and saled through it. He is brilliant. It did make him very tired, and he very often still is, but he is so cheerful. He is a true gentleman and he is my icon.
You will be in my thoughts. xxx

I hope all you ''breakfast clubbers'' have a really awesome week end. There is really no need for any alcohol to have super fun... thinking of you all..

Hi Dream - Welcome, Love your new signature 'Grace' so much more positive. Congratulations on getting thru Friday. Hi Almath, hows Mum today? how u doing? Keep strong all,
Hey there everyone!
Thanks for your lovely posts and words of support which mean a LOT to me :-)
I had a nice long chat with Mum last night and she's getting ready to go into hospital tomorrow and will be operated on Monday. Then it will be the hardest part - waiting one week for the results, starting radiotherapy, etc. We're trying to keep her morale up but she's still in shock for the moment and it's only sinking in. All we can do is support her, listen to her and hope and pray that they get it all on time...
How are things with you Grace? You must be on top of your head with your son's family arriving for 3 weeks!! I'm sure it'll keep you very busy :-) I'm just cooking up a nice chicken dopiaza here in the kitchen and looking forward to watching (well part of!) the Eurovision tonight :-). Then tomorrow it's into town for the 20kms of Brussels!
Well big hugs to you all my friends and have a wonderful evening!!
Almath

Good Morning! Feeling good about day 6 here tomorrow will be a full week since I last drank. It should have been today being you can buy alcohol on Sundays in the State I live in but of course I can, since I "befriended" the gas station clerk, although its a state law not to sell or purchase alcohol I went back to that store 3 times and laid in bed all day just drinking, and wishing I were dead.
What a difference a week makes.
I wish you all a wonderful sober day!

Good morning 14 days
Good morning all. Raining and miserable here. The croissants will cheer me up Mamm, though they wont do my waistline any favours!!
Had a really, really, busy weekend. Tried to log on yesterday but the internet was playing up.
Two weeks today and I feel amazingly please with myself. I have to admit though, it wasn't an easy weekend though, especially Saturday. Saturday was a mega busy day. Then about 18.30 my son left for the airport to collect g.friend and baby. I had the house to myself for a couple of hours and I really, really wanted a glass of wine. I had none in the house and was so desperate I was on the verge of going to the shops. However I didn't. It was hard and the urge remained with me most of Saturday. I've been o.k since. Does this urge lessen in time? It was hard to be strong!
Dream, you are doing really well. Unfortunately, you can buy alcohol here 24/7 7 days a week. Not a good thing.
Almath, hope your husband did his run in good time. Hope you had a good weekend and hope your mum is doing well. She's been in my thoughts.

Morning Grace, well done for being strong, i remember when my husband first stopped drinking, it was really a terrible urge for months, he really had to focus on other things, when he first stopped we lived on a farm and getting to the shops was a mission, so he basically forced himself to be locked up on the farm for 3 months until he was sober, then it was an everyday struggle, but he did manage it for 7 years, but unfortunately, i suppose it never leaves you. He had a major stressor 3 years ago and he is now back to step one, but only this time he is not admitting it, all done in secret.
Please i am sure at your age, you do not have to worry about your waistline too much, you should be able to have a nice thing or two, just as a well done, Im great. Have a wonderful day, hope you dont feel too stressed with baby and all..

Thanks for sharing that Mamm. It must be hard for you too. Your husband is a lucky man having you. You are so supportive to us all.
At my age!! I'm 56 and only 5ft tall, so need to watch what I eat, otherwise I'll be as wide as I'm tall! Ha ha. I'll have a nother croissant though, thanks.

Dear Mamm and Grace,
It's great to hear from you and thank you so much for your very kind wishes for my Mum and your support which is greatly appreciated :-).
I heard last night that all went very well with her operation thank God and that they managed to get all of it (not very much to remove!) and took a couple of lymph nodes to check them out. She's getting some further tests and an MRI scan this morning and will be allowed to go home to recuperate this afternoon. Then it'll be the difficult wait till the 15th June for the results and starting Radiotherapy afterwards. But I spoke with her this morning and she was in good spirits which has put the rest of us in good form too :-)!
The hubby did the 20kms of Brussels in a good time! I managed to run to various points to video him in action which was fun :-)! There were 30,000 runners in all - it was like a herd of wilderbeast running by me ;-)!
Great to hear all the news and especially that Grace got through such a difficult weekend!! You can be really proud of yourself my dear!!
Well sorry I have to run now for lunch but will catch up with you very soon!
Big hugs to my girls
,
Almath

Almath, hope your mum is safe and at home now. Prayers going up for you all. Have an awesome day! anybody heard anything from Dream, been a few days now, havent heard from her anywhere?
read this in a post by Ann.. thought it was very true...
We don't have to give up our personal power to anyone: strangers, friends, spouses, children, authority figures, or those over whom we're in authority. People may have things to teach us. They may have more information than we have, and may appear more confident or forceful than we feel. But we are equals. Our magic is not in them. Our magic, our light, is in us. And it is as bright a light as theirs.
Today, I will own my power with people. I will let myself know what I know, feel what I feel, believe what I believe, and see what I see. I will be open to changing and learning from others and experience, but I will trust and validate myself too. I will stand in my own truth.

Hi Almath, did try to reply to you earlier but my p.c crashed. The news about your mum sounds very positive, so fingers crossed. There is so much they can do these days. I think a lot of the battle is remaining positive yourself. Try and keep yourself busy and keep us informed.
Your husband did well in his run, bet it was a good day.
Speak later hopefully. Perhaps we could do supper! xxxx

Morning All.
I'm still celebrating sobriety and am feeling good day. P.c at home still playing up and I am in work today, long day 08.00 to 19.00. The weather outside is gorgeous today and here am I stuck in the office all day.!!
I'm like my new sobriety lifestyle. Hope I'm strong enough to stick with it!
weetabix & yoghurt for breakfast today. We'll have to all catch up over the week end and have a full monty english breakfast.
Life at home is busy, with my son, his g.friend and 6 mth old baby boy staying. Quite a challenge as g.friend doesn't speak english. but it's surprising what you can do when you have to!!
Speak later hopefully.
Love to you all.
