I too went to my first AA meeting about 25 years ago, stopped drinking for quite some time, then went back to it, and it just took me over. Keeping it simple - not drinking one day at a time and going to meetings - I have been off the booze for 15 days: at least a minor miracle. I hope for the same for you. By the way, I'm convinced that quitting itself is never as scary or bad as the fear of quitting in advance leads us to believe.

Welcome Hooped. I look forward to hearing more from you. Would love to hear what your experience is after you've gone to AA again. Its so encouraging to others when someone posts about their first meeting and what they experienced. The hardest step is the first one. Get off the merry go round.

Glad you posted and don't ever feel like a failure. You haven't given up the fight and so you are not a failure. Never give up.
