recovery memoirs Here is a short list of some Memoirs people have written on their recovery: A million little pieces, by James Fry Broken: My Story of Addiction and Redemption, by William Cope Moyers The tender bar, by JR Moehringer More, Now, Again: A Memoir of Addiction, by Elizabeth Wurtzel Note Found in a bottle: My Life as a Drinker, by Susan Cheever Dry: A Memoir, by Augusten Burroughs |
James Frey's book, while engaging, was a total hoax. |
Another is Drinking: A Love Story, By Caroline Knapp. I enjoyed that one and think I may try one of the others. Thanks Ksplash! |
oh yah...i read "drinking a love story" also....great memoir. yes the million little pieces turned out to be a hoax, but it was a great read for me personally (and I didn't know that it was a hoax when I read it) |
Thanks for the suggestions. To add on a couple: I haven't read this one yet -- _Lit_ by Mary Karr -- but it's been recommended to me. Anne Lamott often writes poignantly and humorously about her dealings with alcoholism. |
anne lamont....i read her to and can't remember the name of the book...she is awesome thanks for the tip of mary karr....i'll check if it's at the library. |
