Thumbs up TOPIC: Did One Door Close?

Hi Im sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

By the grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a drink of
"POISON" since 8-11-90.

For that and you I am truely grateful.

Did you have one door of a situation
close for you? Has a new one open
yet?

The door to a job. A relationship?
Marriage? Some sort of situation?

For me it was with my job.

Yep...my bakery job i was with, then
was let go. Had hip replacement last
June then returned a yr later.

This job is like many jobs out there
that r run by dysfunctional management...lol

Grocery stores and family owned
jobs are similar in many ways.....

They seem to cater to students or
folks struggling with all sorts of
problems.

There is also a huge turn over
because they keep people long
enough nor want them to.

They also dont care for honest
reliable, trusting people either which
is sooooooo sad.

However they hire unrelaible people
that call in sick, come in late,
complain and dont give a sh*t.

I worked from 6am to 2pm from
the start and recently my schedule
was screwed with and thus led me
to splitting my ties permantly with
them today.

Their reason for letting me go before
my 2 weeks was up was because i
wouldnt open my availablity to the
company.

They wanted to use me or i should
say control me and i didnt let them.

It was a weak tactic that they used
and for them they lost a good worker
as many of my buddies knew.

Anyway.....no lost of sleep over this
as this door closes to that chapter
in my life and wait quietly as to what
will be my next assignment in life is.

How about u....what doors have opened
or closed for u recently?

Hmmmm....Tom Hanks said that
some doors are suppose to be
gone thru alone.....

Hmmmm.....is that next door that
one for me to go thru alone?

I shall see.

I think you're right Sharon - as one door closes, another invariably opens - as long as we're
on the ball enough to notice opportunities.

Good luck with looking for work & best wishes

Hello Sharon.

I seem to have doors constantly opening and closing through my interaction with reality through my choices. Situations arise across the day (and night) which, upon reflection, reveal the wonderful flow of life as perceived through my window of reality. Decisions-choices, correct or incorrect close one door and open, sometimes, several doors, requiring further choices-decisions. Some of these doors are, obviously bigger than others yet, they all represent my living life on life's terms to the best of my ability at that time. Like not waiting for god to tell me what to do; doing what is in front of me to do\\be done in any given moment, with the result being a lesson given in choices and decisions. Trying to always remember, it is towards improving my life and, hopefully, helping someone else in their journey.
Sometimes, my nemesis, fear, exerts its' influence in some of these situations, and I use the tools of recovery; self-restraint/honest analysis (frequently), and amends or forgiveness (lots of amends!) as revealed through reflection and rigorous honesty.
All through today there have been quite a few doors opening and closing: improving/defining boundaries with some, learning as a result. Even if some choices are painful, they are part of growing in life's journey.

Another door will open for you, and through it, the next chapter in your journey will begin to unfold.
