8 days

Today is the 8th day I have gone without having a drink or a cigarette. I have tried to get sober many times over the years but there is something different about this time. I am starting to get it. I know that I can not make deals with myself or jump off this journey called sobriety. I have to say day 1-5 was the hardest for me. For all of you that are on your first few days hang in there just in a short period of time you will feel better.. It is so nice waking up in the morning and and not worrying about what I did or said the night before. It is nice to go to work not hung over. My mind is much clearer. My depression from drinking is better and my anxiety is gone. My lungs feel better when I breath. The greatest help to me is this website and all of the support that I have gotten from everyeone. Thank you all so much. Now the real work begins... but I am ready!

Congrats on 8 days Sobertime, :c033:

You say "Now the real work begins... but I am ready!"

For me I went to Alcoholics Anonymous, found a sponsor and a home group, and I began to work the 12 steps of AA. That is what has made all the difference for me. The key is to start some kind of recovery plan. Hey if AA is not for you then there are other recovery programs out there you could work, just remember the plan you choose, work the hole program. And one other thing before you start a program you need to have a open mind, Don't decide I 'm not going to do that, that's no going to work for me. Open, Open your mind and give it an honest try.

Recovery is a lot of hard work but it's so worth it. For me I never thought my life could be this good!!

Good Luck on your Journey!!
