Day 1 at AA meeting

Seemed a good way to start, listening to some people with stories of life and addiction, i hope to see one day soon that my depression and jelousy and hopelessness that ive felt is due to my alchaholism, can subside.
okaY Its been 24 hours a start i guess, cant wait till 24 days and beyond

Hey Bensam!!

Congrats on your decision to live a sober life and yes starting the day with an AA meeting is a great way to start! Hearing other people's stories of life and addiction helped me tremendously in the beginning. You don't feel so alone....

keep putting one foot in front of the other, one day at a time and look ahead to the rougher part soon being behind you, when you will be leveled out and feeling much better emotionally and physically.

My anxiety lifted in time when I stopped drinking and I started to see life in a different way and with more hope and excitement. Hang out at some more meetings and meet new people to share what you are felling.

Congratulations again and way to go!!

Congrats bensam. I attended my first meeting just three days ago. I had a similar experience. It did help me not to feel so alone. I've made several meeting since and hope to continue going daily for the near future.

Well done on going to your first meeting. Meeting others who understand is invaluable in recovery.

Welcome to SR Bensam
Stopping drinking is a great start to getting to the other issues - in fact it's vital I think.

Keep it up!

tues lunchtime im exhausted, still not touched a drop, had that wee feeling that it was just a bad time i was going thru and the alchahol was just a side component, DUH
thought maybe i can have a few at the weekend, really a dumb idea only been since sat and already im thinking its something else, although i know deep inside its not, its a funny thing alchahol messes your mind when your on it, and messes it when your comeing off it,
ONE FOOT IN FRONT OF THE OTHER INSTEAD OF SIDE TO SIDE I THINK BEN

Ben, welcome to SR and good for you for thinking that moment through!
Glad you got to a meeting..great start
the brain takes a little time to heal; anxiety does ease up after a while.
but yeah, this is how we do it, eh... one step at a time

dreams have been wild last two nights, wilder than usual my biggest fears wrapped up in both nights, same people in the dreams different setting, hopefully my heart is pushing these thoughts upwards and out the top

Ben, weird and wild dreams are so normal at this point, especially the using ones...I know it is challenging, but try not to attach to much meaning to them....your brain is awful busy right now...lots of stuff going on....what with the healing and the withdrawing at the same time!

1 day at a time tuns into months, then they become years

This is very normal, don't let it bother you. Hang in there, keep going to meetings and keep posting here.
