Hi Hi I am very new to this but am terrified I will never be able to stop drinking, everytime I try, I begin to suffer terrible anxiety and depression. How long will this last? |
It's hard to say as each person is different. But you may wish to see your doctor, he or she is better qualified to comment and can assist you with your detox/withdrawal. |
Welcome to SR. Please keep reading and posting. |
Welcome to SR! I'm a recovering addict, but I'm sure other alcoholics will be along soon. ((Omega)) is right, though - to abruptly stop drinking, depending on how much/how long you've been drinking, could be very dangerous. There are a lot of very supportive people here..make yourself at home! Hugs and prayers! Amy |
Hi wc :welcome..make sure, see your doc 1st...ok! ..I took 3 to 4 days to detox. but we're all different... ..thanx for posting..Oz.. |
wintercoat, Welcome! I'm a recovering alcoholic, I have just over two years now. Read the stickies at the top of the forums! Please post and read! SR has been a wonderful support for me! Love, Lenina |
Welcome ...wave: You might want to ask your doctor for advice on how best to de tox from alcohol. Be both safe and sober :yup: |
Welcome to SR Wintercoat :welcome It is good to see another Torontonian here. Unfortunately I cannot answer your question either but I can tell you that after time my life became much better than when I was drinking. As the others have said it would be a good idea to see a doctor to discuss both your detox and your depression. The doctor can prescribe something to help with both. Good luck and keep us posted. Everyone cares for everyone else here. It is what makes this forum great. |
Here is a link to some of our experiences with detox. But seeing a doctor first is a smart move as withdrawal can be dangerous. http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...at-we-did.html |
