How old were you when you gave up?
Oh great question my sobriety date that I share in AA meetings is August 2, 2008 to be exact but its tricky. Now that I see this disease as a spiritual one and my hindsight has become much more clear it began in Late August 2002.
One the run (geographical escape/tripping) I was begining to feel the angst and dred that there was something very wrong with me and my life. Of course the disease of alcolism kept me from seeing my drinking.
endings are bound to beginnings and that was the jumping off point and the stopping point for me. ONLY YOU GUYS CAN UNDERSTAND THAT

Age 43
Would drink zero Mon-Thurs. Would either finish or nearly finish 2 fifth's of vodka Friday night through Sunday afternoon. The Sunday drinking was new. Would start drinking in the mornings on both Sat. and Sun.
Hated it - and it feels very foreign now - even tho' this is only my 9th weekend free of it.
