Day 5 & OK!!
Feeling stronger then ever on Day 5!
I met with my life-coach today and she has committed to also being my sponsor!! She insisted on borrowing a copy of the Big Book so she can study up to help me!! Nothing is better then life experience but she has plenty in other areas called life. She is a bit older then me and I have deep respect for her.
Wow, I am so very excited as I KNOW not having a sponsor last year nor working any sort of program contributed to my relapse after 5 mths sober!! I have expressed to my friend that I am absolutely ready to do ANYTHING to stay clean and sober. She really believes me!!
When she commits to coaching a person, she draws up a contract with info agreed on by each party, then it is signed and your committed for 90 days!! She says this contract is very fun and empowering!!
I am overwhelmed with feelings of gratitude! Not only will we work on my sobriety but also my spirituality since we study the bible together too on our visits!! AND the real bonus is that we truly like each other, we became good friends before I shared any of my misery with her!!
I also shared with my friend about how much I have been enjoying reading and posting on my new SR community!! She thinks that ROCKS!!
I REALLY believe that 2010 is going to be my year! I am going to listen, read, ask questions, listen, do the work and pray....alot!!

Congratulations! I can ((hear)) the motivation in you - that's awesome.
My sponsor was such an integral part of my recovery - she has long term sobriety, was spiritual, very trusting and funny!
She also understood that as my sponsor she could only make 'suggestions' and was firm but not aggressive in guiding me, especially in the beginning.
She had what I wanted in recovery and I am deeply grateful to her for that.
Hope you also experience that awesome guidance ~

Hey Dee, thanks for the question. No, she is not recovering from addiction to drugs or alcohol but has coached folks over the years with many different addictions. She understands the process/battle of addiction and is willing to learn more.
Is it required that the person willing to invest in my recovery be an addict themselves?
I find in today's world that it is difficult to find folks to give the time a day, let alone give freely of their time.....every single day!!
I have the deepest appreciation and complete gratitude for her being put in my life today. I am not going to question it......... I can not do this alone and as I move into Day 6......I know that I am not alone!!
