day 1

day 1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been drinking for about 17 years. It has progressively worstened. When it began it was a teenage party thing. Then buy the time I was 28 i found my self drinking alone. That was 3 nights a week, now it's 5. I used to do cocaine, that I haven't touched in 10 years. I had a surgery in the begining of the year, and know i find myself using any reason i can think of to get more vicodin. I have a good job, it doesn't effect that, i bought a home on my own and raise a child on my own. I didn't touch a single substance for 9 months when i was pregnant and i wasn't tempted at all. I wish I didn't have the temptation now.. I have to stop. I dont want my child to see this. he is three, and the drinking is like clockwork after he goes to bed. My boyfriend is not a drinker, and doesn't know of this. He works nights. It does effect my relationship because of the anxiety i feel.
I'm not making excuses, but I can not make a meeting. I just moved here and I don't have a babysitter. This is about the time I would start drinking, insted I am here. I hope this can help for now.

Welcome to SR Iam :)

Coming here certainly helped me, but I had to do my part too and make a commitment to myself not to drink, a day at a time.

I hope you'll consider other things like meetings or whatever down the track if you find can't keep that commitment. You'll find a lot of support here tho :)

Vicodin and alcohol doesn't sound like a good mix - have you thought about seeing your doctor? Detox can be a little rough sometimes.

Hi Iam and welcome....I hope you are still with us.

I would suggest calling AA and getting a local contact number and explain why you can't get to any meetings. Maybe one of the other ladies would meet you somewhere and you can sort something out for the long term.

Don't suffer on your own. Reach out for help. Keep safe:)

I'm back

Hard to believe so much time has passed since I last checked in. There have been good times, bad times, sober times, and too many not so sober times. It hurts when your child clearly points out your addiction. last thing i want to do is have her inherit this demon. My wife also candidly asked me to stop. I said yes Sunday 1-10-10. I am grateful for their requests.
This SR forum really is a first class operation and I am thankful for the extensive amount of information here. I see some familiar faces and that is a good thing.
