Guests your welcome here
This seems like a good place to start... I'm brand spanking new as of today. I made the commitment to stop drinking yesterday. Yesterday I started a blog on Blogspot just to have a place to vent/process my thoughts.
I think the nitty gritty of withdrawals will start tonight and I'm hoping to have/find support. So far the very proccess of signing up for the blog and also for this site have kept me fairly well occupied.
I see a lot of suggestions to get to an AA meeting. Is this an AA way only site? I went through GA years ago with great success, but I'm a private person with much to lose by inviting more sick people into my physical world, so I'm not too keen on getting a sitter to attend a meeting. I'm just not in the mood I guess. But I know I need help and can't go it alone.
Well, I guess I could, but I'd rather not. So the question is: can I do this without AA?

Welcome HonestlyNony,
I have been here for three months so still new myself. I am not going to AA, some do, some don't. There is an atmosphere of respect for each other here and the path that gets us to sobriety and health.
Please check in often and post if you need to talk, vent, question, etc.
Congratulations on day one. Thanks for bringing us along on your journey.

New here.
Hi. Don't really know how to begin, i am new here, new to being real about that i may have a problem, and really scared to say something about it.
I don't know where to start, this is my first post. I don't think i am in that deep, but something needs to be done.
My drinking started soon after divorce, and escelated over the years. Soon it was every day.
Now my life has picked up, life is good to me, but i am worried about my drinking habits, that it will sabotage everything.
This is verry difficult, i hope for a kind reply so i can go on and tell more.
Thanks, kind regards.
Yvonne

Hi Yvonne52,
Welcome! I am so glad you are here and so glad you posted asking for support. We are here.
I am sorry for your pain but excited that you want to keep your new positive momentum going. What a great first step! It will get better, it will be work but remember you are not alone. That is what kept me going my first few weeks.

Welcome to SR Nony and Yvonne, glad you found us and as has been suggested read and ask questions, post about you.
Maybe start a new thread in this forum just saying hello so all the others can welcome you too

Thank ya'll for encouraging me to get my feet wet.
55438, thanks for letting me know non-AA is okay. (although I may turn to it at some point, I'm not adverse to it, just not ready for it) And that was a very welcoming first response, it really made a difference for me today. Thank you.
Nogard, I took your advice and posted a "saying hi" thread, I wouldn't have thought of being that bold on my own, thank you for suggesting it.
Yvonne, thank you for speaking up. I was getting intimidated by clean dates and such thinking I was in the wrong place. Seeing your post helped me realize we are all where we are. Period. And as far as your reluctance to speak up about what's going on with you, if not here then where? I look forward to hearing more from you.
Anyway, thanks again y'all!
