Day 6 here and doing great for the most part. I will admit that voice does come up once in a while....you know...." hey....a few beers sure would go good with this hockey game".....
Doing my best to ignore it, and it's working so far!

Y'all are doing great! This is a great group and a great thread.

I'm doing pretty well. Just focusing on the positives this time, and taking it a day at a time. There have been moments of temptation but I keep telling myself when I get them that, this time I'm done, so there's no point dwelling on those thoughts.

Celebrating my first week with a big cup of herbal tea and I think I'll watch a little television and get to bed early! How's that for excitement?

This is a true testament for the adage...strength in numbers. You know, it's funny..I have had one of my best days in quite awhile. There was no stress at work today, I had a fantastic dinner, the National Championship game is on tonight( I am a huge sports fan), and, maybe most importantly, I hit every light on my way home from work. It was unbelievable. Its funny how the simple things make you happy when sober. Life in its simplistic and beautiful form.

Count me in too! The spirit here is awesome! Forget the doom and gloom naysayers in the news. We determine our futures by the choices that we make. Let's do it together!

Checking in-- 8 days, feeling really good tonight. My husband and I just got back from doing a little after work furniture shopping-- something that would have been unthinkable just a few weeks ago. I like having the extra time in the evenings and the extra energy during the day.

The only problem still seems to be the sleep. I did get better sleep last night than I had been getting, but still woke up feeling like I could sleep for another three hours. I guess that will get better, with time.

Now, for the rest of you in this thread, I want to say for keeping the energy going! It is great to keep coming back to this thread and see so many people with a positive attitude about this. You all ROCK!

8 Days for me, also. Sleeping really well, too well - 10 hours last night! I think it's making up for all the broken sleep and early morning waking over the last 20 years of heavy drinking. Early days yet, but I've got a good feeling about this. Good to hear how others are finding it.

I too didn't sleep properly when drinking, usually finding myself up half the night after I had come round from passing out. Those night time hours are very lonely.

Yesterday was day 5 and a constant nagging headache. This is usually when I pick back up the drink but I was so looking forward to a good nights sleep, I had no desire to drink.

This morning I am so pleased that I got proper sleep. I am not drinking today.

You got a recipe for that? Sounds interesting. Day 9 and feeling good - blood pressure down from 145/95 9 days ago to 111/79 this morning - am I obssessive?

I feel great. The only thing I am having problems with is the excitement of being sober. My mind is racing and my body wants to rid itself. I love it. This is where you know you are alive. And it makes it that much better when you have great friends like everyone here in your corner. Lets do it.
