Hello, all. Thanks for all your support recently. I posted this is another thread and thought I would post it in here too.

I was explaining to a gay friend of my about my split with my partner. He said when he split from his partner he was so bitter and resentful. BUT over time he came to thank him as he is now sober and if he was still with his partner he would not have got sober.

63 days now. Got myself a temporary sponsor but need to find a permananent one. I really struggle with the higher power stuff. I was brought up with a mind over matter way of livinga and that if you want to do something you will by effort.

Effort alone is a wonderful thing but sometimes we need some outside help. Congrats on your 63 days sober!

It's not a 'must' for recovery, IME. I guess I believe in a higher power in the general sense. But not in recovery. I am still sober and it's because my life is better without alcohol. I can type it now like it's so easy but it took me a lot of years. Still though, it's what it boils down to.

One thing what does keep me going during sign of weaknesses, is that thought that I am proving a lot of people wrong.

Spen, I just read this thread beginning to end. I just want you to know that your struggles with relapsing, helped me today. You strengthened my resolve. I am sorry for all of your suffering and wouldn't wish it upon anybody. That said, you really helped a fellow alcoholic and parent stay sober and grateful today. And for that, maybe your struggles were not in vain. My daughter is going to have a more present parent this weekend because of you. So congratulations and smiles to you from sunny California!

I took them in my late teens. One day I realized I didn't want to die anymore. I haven't needed them since. But they did kind of creep up on me like that.

Can't help you with the HP. It's not part of my recovery. But there are lots here to help with that!

Well still sober and not really had the urge to drink. I am still feeling very tired all the time and have only just got up and about now (2pm).

You seem to have been tired for a while, mate - have you thought about mentioning it to your Dr?

I go again a week on Thursday. Last time I mentioned it she said it could be down to the depression.

well I am still sober and not smoking. 75 days now. The depression has been really bad the last few days and I have hardly left the house.

How about some counseling to supplement the drug therapy?
