5 months ago i had sky high triglyceride count (there isn't a higher one on the scale this is like 2000+ you are in deep **** side of the scale) and was put immediately onto strong medication with some very serious concern from the doc, also i had mega high cholesterol. It was implied by the doc that i am heading for a stroke/heart attack in months not years.
I went to AA, did the steps as i was told to, went to meetings every week. I started to exercise, lost weight, eat properly..still continued to smoke 40 min a day though?!
So 5 months later, today, having come off the medication 4 weeks ago i get the results of the blood test i had on Wednesday and everything...cholestoral, triglycerides etc are normal...not a hint of any of them being high at all.
Just goes to show as long as the damage isn't permanent and efforts are made to rectify temporary damage done it can be achieved in sobriety even after 20 years of drinking.
I would also like to point out that i did not get into sobriety because of this problem, it has been a bonus, if you like, to the road i had already chosen to go down. In fact. being honest, no way would that have stopped me from drinking by itself!
Wow what a day:-)

(((yeahgr8))) - that's fantastic!!! Our bodies DO have a remarkable way of healing themselves, when given the chance. It can't always be done, but getting clean and sober goes a long way toward that goal and you are living proof!!
Hugs and prayers!
