Angry TOPIC: I Like Coming 2 Soberrecovery Because.....

Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

By the Grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a drink of
alcohol since 8-11-90.

For that and you I am truely grateful.

I like coming to SR because it is a
safe place to come unload what's
bothering me or what's on my mind.

My work place, bakery, has rules
and regulations to follow just like
any other business. We r to wear
khaki's, white top, safe shoes.

Many employess dont dress up. Kids
as i call them roll out of bed, get
dress and go to work. Me, i get up
early, bath, dress nice with make
up, jewelry and a nice white top
eith Harley or with designes made
with crystals. Very colorful but
on a white top.

Well....i was called to HR today
to be told not to wear anything
outside a plain white top....GRRRRR...

My outtake on this is.....someone
is envious of me and just because
they dont care to improve on
their appearance then no one
should....grrrrrrr.....

We work up front with customers
and i learned early on how to look
nice. I love recieving compliments,
dont u? Dont u like seeing a lovely
lady waiting on u? Or it just doesnt
matter?

So ive copped an attitude because
i cant have my way and dress what
i want....the bosses know i look
nice, but in all fairety everyone
should dress accordingly....and
i understand that....

Still....grrrrrrrrrr

So i started to plan not wearing
any makeup or jewelry tomorrow...
no lipstick....and just dress down
like the kids do.....

However u know that that is not
me and my coworkers will question
my appearance tomorrow.

Is it to get attention ....i love
attention....lol

Yep I am an ALCOHOLIC...lol

It pisses me off that i cant have
my way......grrrrrrrrr....lol

Well, I tried wearing an earring to the place I currently work at. Once. Partner saw that and told me no way Jose'. Haven't worn them since then, I guess it was only OK when I worked construction.

I also come here because it's a safe place to share my ES&H when I can't be at a meeting. AA is my home, so SR must be my home away from home away from home or something like that. I logon to SR when I get to work in the morning and it feels good to have that recovery resource available all day long. It's the perfect addition to my 12-Step program in AA.

So many good people here, I think I'll stick around another 24 hours

Lots of good ESH from "old-timers"
as well as "new-comers"

I still dont have a Thank You
button to personally thank
you for sharing with me.

So i send u this little man
cause its all i got....lol

Thanks Sharon. Sorry about the workplace rules. I like individuality myself.

I like coming here because I like to give back and most of the time I am the one receiving. It has helped me to remain a HAPPY sober person and I feel through reading these boards I have gained so much. There are quite a lot of posters that have helped me around here, but when the going was real tough in the beginning months it was Dee, Jules, Hevyn, Fizzy, Jomey and a few others that I could pm and they would talk sense into me. It was mood swing time in the beginning, but life has evened out now. I notice sometimes I am on here almost all day and i wonder why, but I realize I'm having some weak moments and don't even acknowledge it until after I have read some posts that I can strongly identify with. SR and the people here have saved my butt more then once and now I am working on the spiritual growth side of it.

Thanks Sharon. I always enjoy reading your threads by the way.

I come here because I have so many friends here and there is so much support here. I know I'm understood here since we are all suffering in one way or another from addictions and addictive behaviors. SR is a safe place to come to vent or cry or ask questions.

(((hugs)))

This is the only place that puts up with me. LOL

I wore makeup even when I was cleaning hotel rooms. I feel how I look. And I like to look put together sometimes. Even if I am just scrubbing toilets.

Because this is the place it all started for me. This is where I took my first baby steps, fell on my face over and over and was still welcomed back warmly. It really has been the only constant in my recovery. I don't know that I will ever consider myself "recovered" as I know that I'm just one hit away from falling back into my hole. This place helps me feel grounded. It gives me hope that all the years I "wasted" being wasted are not a total waste, if you can follow that!!

Thanks once again guys for sharing
ur own Experience strengths and hopes
with me/us.

This too has been a one positive
constant place to stay on track with
thru/out my recovery.

Even tho i have never met any of you,
you still feel like ive known you all my
recovery life.

Just to know you have been there
done that situations similar to my
own helps me remember that im not
alone.

The fellowship in recovery is strong
and AWESOME.

Keep coming back to unload what
ever you are holding inside and
feel the freedom and rewards

I come here cos this is where my search for recovery started sitting alone in a flat in Gibraltar, in March 2008, googling things like how to stop drinking etc...for the umpteenth time!

Both CarolD and anna51 gave me a lot to think about along the way and options for my recovery.

SR was one of the many things that led me to the rooms of AA and to sobriety.

I hope to post my usual random comments well into the future:-)

VENT SHARON!!!!! VENT AWAY!!!!! LOL

I love SR, it is an awesome suplement to my AA program!

I doubt very seriously if I would have ever even sought out SR if it were not for AA.

AA saved my life and I continue to grow daily in AA in little tiny baby steps, SR is very similar to the AA fellowship, minus the real time hugs, handshakes, smiles, tears, understanding looks, the hope one gains seeing that twinkle in some ones eyes as thier life really changes and their beast is lifted off of their backs. Real laughter and face to face support and the ability to simply pick up a phone and call some one you Really know at any time of the day or night and knowing that if you need them to come over or meet you some where they will.

SR has brought me so much Experience, Strength, & Hope from both people who use AA and those that do not.

At SR I see people grow, I see our disease in all phases, it reminds me many times of where I came from and also shows me where I can go..... up or down.

I would like to thank every single person that post here, you all are a part of my recovery, I learn what to do and what not to do.

I would still be sitting in the bottom of a bottle of beer without SR....there is no doubt in my mind. I am so grateful for this place....I'm almost bawling!

I have learned so much about sobriety. AA, SMART, Lifering and other methods....it's all here, and I use all of it.

THANKS, SR!

I like SR because it's a nice place to come to when you can't get to meetings, or as an alternative to meetings. It's a nice, safe place to recover from our addictions.

You know why I like it here? Because of stuff like this:
So i started to plan not wearing
any makeup or jewelry tomorrow...
no lipstick....and just dress down
like the kids do.....

That is EXACTLY where my brain would go too. To the extreme opposite of what they want. That little rebel without a clue inside me. lol. I am an alcoholic and posts like this help me know I am so not alone
Thank you

Ya

I like what Taz said about real meeetings:
"the real time hugs, handshakes, smiles, tears, understanding looks, the hope one gains seeing that twinkle in some ones eyes as thier life really changes and their beast is lifted off of their backs. Real laughter and face to face support and the ability to simply pick up a phone and call some one you really know at any time of the day or night and knowing that if you need them to come over or meet you some where they will."
That's what I like about real-life meetings over SR.

However, you can't sit in a meeting in your UNDERWEAR like you can in SR!!
Well you probably could at my group. They're nuts already..

+1 for SR!
Cheers!

There's some awesome people here in
SR and no different from those sitting
in face to face meetings.

You guys are so AWESOME.
Truely a BLESSING in my book.

Last night i began to strip off
the jewelry and makeup and
decided in that minute to go
to work without all that "stuff" on.

Then in the next minute i placed
on all my rings and necklace and
decided that maybe my HP would
want me to be myself.

Why allow those people at work
steal my joy. Then my alcoholic
mind decided to go all out HARLEY.

They told me NO harley shirts and to
wear just a plain white top....well
if i cant show my Harley on top then
ill wear my bling bling Harley necklace,
rings, bracelet and if i had Harley
bra and panties id wear them too...lol

Would they tell me to strip off my
jewelry and undies???? hmmmmm

They better not....lol

The code is khaki pants and white
top and me long sleeves to cover
my tats.....the code doesnt say
anything about what to wear
underneath,,,,,right????? lol

So i wore a leopard cami under
my white long seeve top which
they could see thru....lol and
dressed Harley boots and jewelry
today....lol

No one said anything to me today...lol

As u can see, i am an alcoholic
that wants to be UNIQUE.
I want to do things MY way
and if not I cop a resentment
BIG TIME....lol

Is that sooooooo wrong??? lol

I am definitely sick....lol and
in the Right Place....lol here
in SR and recovery....

Hey, I know there is a lesson
i need to learn with all this
and maybe one day i will
get the picture anytime before
i die....lol

I love it. Like the time I HAD to work for the Director. I wore black nail polish. I just hoped that he hated it.
