Designate a driver this holiday season

Stay alive, don't drink and drive this year over the holidays. Hand those keys over to a designated driver.
The typical Illinois DUI conviction costs the drunk driver $14660. In addition, you may have to pay probation fees, the cost of mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

That's a wonderful reminder. Thank you.
Let's all be the designated driver this season.

Great reminder. Let's also spread the word that AAA (not AA! Lol) is offering free rides and they'll tow your vehicle if you overindulge during the holidays. This is an article from Arizona and most states offer a similar service...

AAA Arizona is extending its popular Tipsy Tow service, offering drivers a ride home if they overindulge in alcohol this holiday season.

Tipsy Tow will be offered from 6 p.m. through 6 a.m. on the following dates: Friday, December 4; Saturday, December 5; Friday, December 11; Saturday, December 12; Friday, December 18; Saturday, December 19; Thursday, December 24; Friday, December 25; Thursday, December 31; and Friday, January 1.

Drivers, potential passengers, party hosts, bartenders and restaurant managers can call 1-800-AAA-HELP (1-800-222-4357) to request a free tow home of up to 10 miles.

Callers can simply tell the AAA operator, "I need a Tipsy Tow," to receive the free tow and ride home. The program is open to everyone. You do not need to be a AAA member to take advantage of this service.

Tipsy Tow provides a one-way ride for the driver, one passenger and their vehicle. Services will not be provided to motorists requesting a tow to another drinking establishment, repair facility or any location other than their home. However, in some cases, a tow to a hotel may be allowed if the motorists is, or plans to become, a guest.

Other services not provided include: requests for a vehicle start, flat tire change, gas delivery, "taxi" service and requests to transport more than two people with the vehicle.

In addition, motorists can expect to be charged the standard rate for trips longer than 10 miles.
AAA Arizona offered the Tipsy Tow program for the Labor Day, Memorial Day, and Fourth of July holidays earlier this year.

The auto club estimates that a first-time DUI conviction can cost a motorist more than $10,000 in fines, penalties, restitution, ignition interlock installation and maintenance, legal fees and increased insurance costs.
