One Week of Sobriety!
Well, I have to say that I am very happy today because I am just a few hours away from achieving one week of sobriety. I know this may not sound like very much, but it is a huge accomplishment for me. The only time that I can remember going an entire week without a drink in my adult life was when I spent a week in the hospital a couple of years ago, which really does not count. Now that I am pretty much through the withdrawals, I feel pretty good overall. It is so nice to be able to function in life with a clear head again. I know that I have a very long way to go, but I keep telling myself that every moment, every day that I remain sober, my mind and body will continue to grow stronger. That has been my motivation so far and it is very exciting to me to know that each day without alcohol, I will grow closer to becoming the man that I want to be. However, I am trying not to dwell on the past or worry about the future. As I heard someone on here say the other night, "the past is history and the future is a mystery... all we have is today."
