Welcome sourgirl. Hope your detox isn't too bad. Keep hydrated. Drink as much liquid as you can. I have found that moving about helps too. I used to do "laps" around the house. The exercise seemed to make the alcohol residue dissipate faster. Maybe imagination, maybe not. Also sherbet and yogurt seemed to be about the only things I could bear the thought of eating. Eating anything with calories should help too. Look forward to hearing more from you.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. It's great to know there's a place like this where we can congregate. And so many activities here - - it's awesome.

Welcome sourgirl I found a place-yay! Oh I am in love with it, but first I have to get approved by the mobile home park-it is super nice and I have a wreck of a credit report due to my drinkin and my ex-husband...paid most of it off though...not to mention my DUI's (they ask about criminal charges)..this place is strict about those type of things, so fingers crossed I made an offer today so should be moving sometime before May...that's when I have to be out. It's a 3 bedroom and one of the biggest ones around and new so my daughter can even have a playroom and I finally will have a real kitchen, island and everything LOL. I'm trying not to get my hopes up to high...but I can't help it! 14 days for me today...and going strong right now!

Evening y'all...

Gosh, it's after midnight? Where did the time go.... I had the best day y'all, started out bad but got much better fast.

Went to the mall with my uncle who came to visit me on his way to a job, and then to a restaurant. He drinks but he didn't for me, and we had a great time doing pretty much nothing at all... Nice to hear a bunch of extra vowels every now and then.

I'm might happy right now.

:bounce

Congrats, Akazia, sounds like a nice place... hope you get in.

Take care y'all...

How's everyone doing today? Day 11 for me. I found an AA meeting for women only - that's the only kind I want to go to now. It's on Wednesday. I am excited about it but nervous. i've never been to an AA meeting before. But this time, I'm going to do it right.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Glad you found an AA meeting Keltie-let us know how it goes
Day 15 and the crazy drinking dreams have started-ah well I remember these from my jail time (last time I had any length of sobriety). I'm tired but going to hit the stores to get my daughter's christmas presents while I have some extra cash! Work tomorrow after almost a week off...Christmas break on the way too-fortunately I should be more than occupied...and a physical wed for the first time in 3 years-we'll see how that goes!

Hiya folks...back from the weekend with no internet!

Nice to meet you, sourgirl..glad you're here and hope you're feeling better every day!

Managed to be up north for the weekend and not drink a beer. Holy cow..that may be the first time ever. My brother did ask what was up, but I didn't get into it too much. Just told him I was takin it easy after drinking so much this summer. That's enough for now. Anyway, I'm on day 15 today, which feels great. Hope you all had a good weekend!

Day 21 and we are all back from our Holiday. Sorry I’ve been off the radar everyone. I have been off the reservation (not a drinking metaphor… but a travel metaphor). I had typed a “Day 17 talk to you on Monday” post… but I guess I never got around to posting it… erg!
Anyway, we are back. I’ll back…
Sounds like some of you folks had a challenging holiday. As my wife would say, “Stinkeroo”.
All and all, I am pretty happy with my weekend. We spent Thanksgiving with some of the Mormon couples at post (so there wasn’t any temptation)… and then we drove to Vienna with one of those couples for the rest of the weekend. It was very nice. Luckily, my wife stayed within budget at the Christmas Markets… even though she pretty much had a free pass to get whatever she wanted.
One annoying thing at the Markets was the punch stands. The very leaded punch stands. It was basically sweet mulled wine/moonshine. Now… a month ago I would probably have bought one of these booths and just camped there for the weekend… but now? The smell of that garbage grossed me out. Especially when I caught a smell of cigs mixed in. Ick.
But the real test was the Asian Noodle/Sushi lunch my wife and I had together. I… LOVE…. SAKE!
Man… it is so hard to get really good Asian good in Serbia… but in Austria it’s abundant… so all I wanted was some Sake with my meal… but I refrained. I stayed good.
Anyway, we were squatting at a friend of mine’s flat from orientation class who is posted to Vienna. I warned her that I wasn’t drinking before we all arrived. The first night she asked, “do you still smoke” “No” “You don’t smoke or drink anymore? What good are you.” But she was just joking, we had a great visit and talked about how great I’ve been feeling without all the booze in my system. It was a nice visit… except for having to sleep on a hardwood floor… my back hurts soooo bad.
TB: I’m sorry you had such a challenging weekend but the visit from your Uncle sounds like it was a great pick-me-up!
Finster: I can totally relate to your cooking dilemma. I’m a big time holiday chef and home bar-bq addict. I have the history of making huge spreads of food and inviting all of my friends over… but by the time the food was ready I had hit that point of no return. I would be so “gone” that I wasn’t hungry anymore… and I would just keep drinking. This year for thanksgiving I ate like a pig and it was glorious!
Sourgirl: Welcome to the group!
Keltie: Welcome to you too.

I'm right here Tytan... in the middle of 2 weeks of finals. Still haven't drank anything, I got far too much to do anyways. The end of this hel-ish semester is in sight...

Take care y'all...

Hello all. Day one. And I don't know if it counts because I have been tweaking the majority of the day.

So many of you are doing so well!

Welcome back joeallen and eureka! I'm glad you're back and still trying. I know it's really hard and it's not like we have this all wrapped up. Having a number of days strung together doesn't make it a done deal. I think about it every day and get overwhelmed with the thought of "forever"...I'm just trying not to think about it that way. Anyway...glad you're back and day one and two is just fine.

I echo what Mirage just said. You may fall down, but there isn't any reason you can't get back up again! (Unless you break a leg or something.) Hugs coming your way. :ghug2

Eh, even if you do break a leg...

Use crutches, or a table or something.

No reason at all not to start again. That's pretty much been the story of my life for the last 5 months anyways. And even though I haven't quite mastered the art of staying sober all the time, I have managed to stay sober most of the time since July, which is an improvement for me who used to drink down a bottle a day because that's what I did.

Hopefully, y'all won't be like me, but yet and still I gotta admit this semester feels better than all the other ones, even with the bad days scattered around. *Not* saying this is something to aspire to, but it's the best I've been able to do so far.

And this semester I'm taking a double courseload--I *never* could have done this if I'd just gotten lost for good again... So while I feel like an inept fool for not being able to do what so many here have done time and time again, at least if I compare myself to myself, I'm doing better and it's getting better... Maybe this time it'll stick. The only way to ensure that is to not drink again though, and replace the drinking in me with something else.

Oh, and hi y'all. Doing things backwards again...

Take care,
TB
