Well, here goes....

I am new here, however, I am not new to drinking. I started drinking 28 years ago when I joined the military, because well...peer pressure, boredom, you name it. I used to just drink a few beers with the guys, but I graduated, and lately it's been 6-8 beers and a half a fifth of gin a day for the past several years. It's been 3 days since my last drink and I have yet to feel any ill effects of the type that I've read about in the other forums. Maybe I'm lucky, or that other shoe is going to drop really hard soon. I'm scheduled to go into a VA Hospital rehab program next week, and I'm really looking forward to it. Anyway...just thought I'd say hi.

Welcome, rangerbob! Glad to have you!

No withdrawal symptoms? May I have your liver when mine fails?

On a serious note, why wait a week to go into a VA Hospital rehab program? Friendly advice: make sure you are working a program before you leave the rehab.

That's the first bed they have available. Must be that time of year.

Welcome, I was 'blessed' with no detox symptoms either.. no idea what that was about. I wish you luck in rehab, grab on to anything and everything that you can that will help you maintain a sober life.

Welcome Bob!

Hello RangerBob!

yep i had no real detox symptoms to speak of...it's quite an individual thing i think...good luck for next week:-)

c49 10-23-2009 04:26 AM

From my quitting experiences... I've had all the ills from detoxing to none at all. Unpredictable in my opinion. Soooo if you got off alcohol without suffering then why drink again?

GOOD LUCK and THANK YOU for serving!

Dawnmha 10-23-2009 05:50 AM

Good luck to you

Welcome; I'm on Day 7 and had only mild symptoms thus far. But I too am waiting for the other shoe to fall. Headache yesterdy and today, but that could just be coincidence. Its actually helping me stay dry!
Best to you
