Great idea- I just want to welcome a new class to our school even though some have been coming to school for awhile. This is the place to be and I do find that sooner or later most of us finally get a diploma.

I am from the July 08 class. I did not find this website until Oct 08. I do believe that since I do not attend AA that this site has been my salvation. I am not sure I could have done this without some interaction with others. People who do not have a problem just don't get it. I truly believe that we need to talk ( even if its not F2F) with others who are going through the same things as us.

If I could give one word of advice it would be to post and read as much as you can. There will be someone who is thinking or feeling the very same thing you are. There is always someone here who you can chat with.

Good luck everyone- it is not easy but it is doable.

Hi everyone. The weekend is about to kick off here on the east coast. I'm meeting an old high school friend for dinner. No drinking for me (OF COURSE!!!) It's not an option for me anymore. That's how I prefer to think of it. The option is off the table.

It takes a little re-training, but food can be enjoyed with non-alcoholic drinks just as well as with wine!!

I'll check in later.

Laura

Evening all. It's Friday night and OH has gone to work and I've spent far too long looking at this screen! My eyes are starting to go square.
Getting a bit tired now so heading off for some zeds soon. Minus alcoholic drink or thoughts of wanting an alcoholic drink (which has to be a good thing)
Have a good weekend all x

ME, TOO!! There is no comparison between sober sleep and drunken sleep. I'm up late, but since it's sober sleep it will be productive. Good night!

I slept fine - but keep waking up at 5am.
Think this is the anti-deps the doc put me on. Hopefully they'll settle down soon.

It took me a while after admitting I had a 'problem' with alcohol before I actually quit drinking. I relapsed more times than I care to remember, but I think I've got it right finally. I too tried to moderate but never could. It was a great relief to just surrender to my alcoholism and stop fighting. Kudos to you for starting your sober life! It's worth the effort.:ghug3

Meeting was good tonight. Met a nice group of women about my age who were very welcoming. It's kind of amazing how some of the stories that were told could almost be me talking. Hope everyone is doing well!!!

Traderjane--Glad to hear your meeting went well. Yes, being able to identify and feel a part of the group is indeed a good feeling.

I know how you feel, I'm still counting hours not days, but it's great weather for it.
