I just found the site today. I have signed up to get some addt'l support.
I have been clean since 2/22/08.
I have abused substances from alcohol to crack cocaine my entire life.
I am getting used to living life sober. I am dealing with issues that I have never dealt with before on account of this...
Looking for some support networks to do so.
For me I think my struggle with depression added a lot to the struggle w/ dependence. Trying to deal with depression on my own now..
Anyone else experience this??

Hi DarkD
I found a lot of things I'd pushed deep down revealed themselves when I stopped 'self-medication'...depression being one of them...
I hope being part of a supprt network here will help. It helped me
Have you considered seeing your doctor or a counsellor as well? They're both very good options too IMO
Welcome to SR

Welcome Dark
Yep I have experienced many dark days in recovery but with support can stand and look it in the face and get through to live another day clean.
By way of ID I used for 23 years everything from speed to smack and alcohol, been clean 4 1/2 years and love each day I am clean.

Glad to hear you're over the physical part. The mental part is a life long process. Everybody gets depressed... keep focused on your goals and what makes you happy in life. Also your Friends & Family
er sorry
