soberSATnight

Good morning-

Last night was a sober sat night. This is my 3rd weekend in a row and going on 21 days without a drink. This is huge for me. I'm an all around drinker - I can drink alone or with a crowd. I can only have a few, or party my arse off all while driving and drugging too. I can be quiet and reserved or I can be a real jerk.

Over the last two years - I've wrecked my truck, got a dui, lost a job, lost my girlfriend and had to move from a town I loved. I know I'm an alcoholic.

I attend AA meetings and I have sponsor (we're going to work on step 2 this week).

...but last night, I reluctantly agreed to go to dinner with some fellow AA'rs. I didn't want to go, but I forced myself to and it was great! Other people showed up and they were all having fun, talking about life, sports, movies, all without drinking.

Now it's almost 8am and I'm up, feeling good, and about to go to the 9am meeting. Yes, I think I'll stay sober for another day.

HI Kjell, It was great to read your positive post. It works if you work it and you sure are. There is no reason for you to get drunk again, just dont pick up that first drink, keep going to meetigs and work the steps with your sponsor. After 11 plus years of doing that I can tell you it gets better and better!!

What a positive way to start my Sunday!

Sobriety does just keep getting better and better. Yes, it is hard work, but so very worth it! Congratulations to you!
