Tattoo??

Hi guys and gals, was thinking of getting a small tattoo to mark my sobriety and keep me focused and inspired to stay sober and strong through this rough journey. Wanted something (maybe) on the inside of my wrist, so if i ever felt the urge or even god forbid it picked up that first drink I would see it and realise what I was about to do, and what will follow.
Ive drawn a couple of designs with the circle with a triangle in it which look pretty cool, and also thought maybe some fancy lettering saying carpe diem (seize the day) or something like that.
Any ideas or feed back would be great to hear?

Just my 2 cents I would stay away from the circle and triangle, i totally understand where you are coming from and i mentioned it to my sponsor, as i have lots of tattoos inc sleeves, and he said NO and that was that lol

hang on ill take some pics of mine may help you to like or not like will have them up in 30 mins...

I would advise against any tattoo unless u are complete sure about
The design, its meaning and its relevance in your life.
An all but forgotten practice is to use a pen to etch a rough draft
And wear it for a couple days just to see how it feels.
There's also Henna which is semi-permanent, and lasts about 6 months.
Keep thinking about it. If u are asking for advice on an internet forum,
You probably aren't ready for it.

Fletch2468 I understand you wanting something like that, I have a tattoo of the Tazmanian Devil but I got that while I was still out there, looking back at when I got it that was my alter ego.

My father gave some very sage advice when it came to a tattoo, first he told me that no matter what I got or where it would be forever so be darn sure of what you are getting, he said to always keep in mind that one day I will have grandchildren and to make darn sure it is something that if they ask about it it will not be embarassing.

I am not sure what type of work you do now or what you do in the future, but a tat on your wrist is not always looked upon with favor by a possible employeer or by prospective clients.

Think long and hard about where you may be 10-20 years from now. If you decide to get it give real serious consideration to where you get it.

there you go, notice the sleeves that mean a shirt will hide them, and the one on neck that is below the collar line...for those office interviews;-)

enjoy getting your tat:-)

Wow yeahgr8 thats some tats you got there, very impressive, see what you mean about being able to hide them if needed, i think that if i get something on my wrist i can easily hide it by wearing a watch right?
By the way what does it translate on your arms?

Here are some ideas of recovery-related tattoo quotes. A bit large for me, but maybe there's some ideas here for you:

How about adding "Not" at the beginning = Not Bad To The Bone

then adding "But Good In Heart & Spirit" just below... or something like that.

Nice tats Yeahgr8

I have tons of tats, none of them recovery related.. I don't know why really.. However, on my last stint in detox, I made sure to have a tat marked over the scar from my IV.. thinking it would remind me always of how close I came to death. I drank again 3 weeks later, and now it means very little to me, other than reminding me that I f'd up even THAT committment. I dunno.. I would give it at least a year or two before making a tat committment like that.
