My Birthday gift to me!!!

Hi people, Just would like to say thanks for all your help by posting on here and giving me some strength to put down Budwieser and say No more. I have been pretty much a closet Drunk for the past 6 years, drinking 8 to 12 beers every eve. My Birthday is Oct 5, today! Am I happy? No! 2 days ago I quit drinking my daily Buds, which aint your Buds for sure. Wife and kids deserve better and I have always known that. I drank every day to take lifes stress and cover it up,not to mention sleep and just relax.
Once I get past these withdrawals, which are kicking my ass! as most know what I'm talking about. Once I get past that I'm home free, but it's pure hell right now. I quit once before for ten years and like a big dummy started again. I'm a nervous wreck and can't function at work, but I'm gonna beat this with the HELP! of your support and prayers.

God Bless!

Thanks,

Ron

Congratulations Ron! You have a great attitude and it sounds like you are on track. My family was my main reason for stopping also. Every time I wanted to pick up that drink I would look at my little girl and just realize that she deserves better!

I wish you the best as you go through this, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you! Talk about the best gift you could ever give yourself and your family!

Happy Birthday and you have probably, most likely oh no most definetely given yourself the best present ever by deciding to stop the Buds. Not to forget the early Christmas present for your family. Have a wonderful day you deserve it. The withdrawals will pass. Stay strong.

Happy Birthday and welcome to SR! Stopping drinking is the best gift you can give yourself and your loved ones. The withdrawals don't last too long and once you're detoxed you can start living a sober life. It's worth the effort.

The withdrawals and side affects is the kicker, Day 3, Can't wait to sleep again and go to bed sober. This a good thing and not just for me but others also. Once I get thru this hell! I pray to never return to this sorry way of living.

Welcome and Happy Birthday. W/D's are still pretty fresh in my memory so I am feeling your pain. Hang in there and in a few days the worst of your physical symptoms will be a bad memory. Such a wonderful gift to you and your family!

Good on you, Ron. :*)
Withdrawals are bloody awful - I'm just coming through mine but this messageboard has been the best thing I could find while I can't get out to aa.
I plan on doing everything I can this time and plan to stick around - hope it works for you too

Well folks after 4 days of Detox at home and just starting to get rid of the major withdrawals I had super bad and stressfull day and came home and slurped down 2 beers. Guess what! It did not help and have a headache from hell! That right there just proved it is not the answer and I'm not touching another one and starting over. Just being honest and need your prayers.

Thanks,

Ron

Hey Ron, who here hasn't failed? I look at it more as an opportunity to succeed!!!

Do you think you have hit a bottom (or close to it)?
