well....

Im not sure exactly what im looking for in posting this other than maybe just support. but im almost off of methadone from 85 to 7 mlgs in 60 days. i feel like i dont wanna be sick anymore but every 5 mins i fight the urge off and i want so badly to be M free for myself and my son on the way. I really feel i can do this but everyone on here seems very helpful in giving each other support so i thought maybe someone would like to give me advice, stories of their success or really anything you wanna tell me, i will take it all in full heartedly.

I don't know anything about methadone, I'm an alcoholic, but there will be people here that can help and support you. You are definetely not alone. Keep strong.

I really hope you are winning the battle. It's my fourth day without alcohol and I am sitting here fighting the voice inside me that says 'go on, just tonight, start again tomorrow'. It's good to have somewhere to come and read and see that other people are fighting too. Good luck.

Are you withdrawing from methadone with input and support from a doctor? I ask for two reasons:
  1. Because your taper is far quicker than anything I've experienced
  2. You say you have a son on the way
If you're pregnant and withdrawing then I seriously hope you've discussed this with an obstetrician and a doctor. I'm not saying this to chastise or scare you, I just want you and your son to be safe, and that includes being informed of any potential risks.

My taper from methadone took 6 months, I reduced in small increments and jumped off at 2.5mg. I had acute withdrawal symptoms for two weeks, and general symptoms for 12 months. It's a long haul process and definitely not something you can rush. The good news is that it can be done! I've been there and you're not alone. I wish you all the best with it.
