Red face New to SoberRecovery.com

Hi. I am new to this forum. I am hoping I can make some friends in recovery and talk to positive people. I have 8 years sober and 1 1/2 drug free. I think it's safe to say that the drug free counts and I have to start over with my day count for drinking. So I just made it one date together.

I still want to drink at times and I find this program really difficult. I have a difficult time surrendering I guess.

Hi Scary and Welcome to SR.

Do you use AA in your recovery? I myself go to meetings and have made many friends there as well as here on Sober Recovery. Staying positive and full of gratitude has been very helpful in my recovery.

Keep posting.

welcome,

well done on adjusting your clean date, they are both the same thing "drugs". have you got a sponsor?, do you work the 12 steps? do you attend mtgs?, all these things have made my recovery easyier.

may your god bless you on your journey.

Thank you everyone for making me feel so welcome. I do go to AA and I also have one NA meeting a week that I go too. I have a sponsor and I work the program to the best of my ability but I still need more support than I'm getting. I can't get to meetings everyday so it would be nice to talk to people on here.

Hello Scary! I also use SR as an addition to my AA program of recovery. It's a great way for me to find a little peace while I'm at work, and to stay connected.

AA and sober recovery are awesome outlets, they helped keep me grounded well from doing crazy things i would have done in 2008 before i sobered up!
