Climbing the walls!!

Here I am back on Day 3. This is what this afternoon has been like. Well, first I should mention that I'm suffering from a UTI (I know---TMI---sorry), and I'm uncomfortable, but it's something in my brain that's restless as well. So here's what my afternoon has been like...

Check e-mail

Go out on my porch and take 2-3 drags off a cigarette

Go to the bathroom (like, 1000 times today from the UTI)

Repeat the whole process over and over.

My neighbors must think I'm crazy for constantly going in and out of my cottage all day for like 10 seconds at a time. Any advice to help me relax my brain a little?

Get to day 4 and don't care what your neighbors think.

Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. -

One day at a time, one hour at a time, one moment at a time. Go to bed sober, wake up the next day and start the process again. And don't a drink in-between, no matter what. How about taking on some new activities or hobbies? Here are some ideas http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ething-do.html

Thank you. I have the day off today, but in reality my plan was to work and make some extra cash. But that has all gone out the window--can't sit still.

Cath,

Did you see about some medication for the UTI? Please do so, if you haven't already! It's easily treatable and the meds are not expensive. Please take care yourself!

Much love,

Lenina

How about trying a qigong? It might help. Stand feet shoulder width apart, hands at sides. Empty your lungs, squeeze that air out. Inhale slowly and deeply while bringing your arms up to above your head and place hands in prayer position. Stretch gently and begin to exhale slowly, bringing arms back down to your sides. Repeat maybe three times.

Hope it helps!

Oh geez. I cannot sit still with a UTI, either. Get yourself to the pharmacy and get some AzoStandard, stat. It's like Tylenol for your bladder. It will turn your urine bright yellow, almost reddish, but it works like a charm. And get two big bottles of cranberry juice, and drink drink drink.

If it doesn't go away in three days, go to the doctor.

I don't think this has anything to do with not drinking. A UTI will drive you insane.

Went to the ER this morning and got antibiotics, but still so uncomfortable. Don't read on if you get grossed out, but they found blood and bacteria in the sample; however, they said that because of expense (aka no insurance) they weren't going to investigate further. But I'm grateful to have the antibiotics, that's for sure.

Somebody else mentioned AZO, but I didn't know what it was. Do you know about how much it costs?

I think it costs less than $10 at the pharmacy -- but it's worth its weight in gold.

I'm sorry Cath - that sounds dreadful. Things like that would drive me insane.

Please check with your pharmacist on any meds - even over the counter ones.
Ask them what they recommend - they're the professionals.

We can't recommend treatment here.

No, no, no...I understand the no medical advice thing. I was just wondering how to calm down and what might work for that.

Cath,

The Azo is a wonder-drug! And it is very inexpensive. I am surprised the doc didn't order some for you. The only side-effect I know of for me was, as mentioned, the bright orange-red urine. It stains anything it touches, so use caution! LOL

I hope you're feeling better. UTI's are so miserable.

Love,

Lenina

I know I was all jumpy and couldnt sit still or hold a thought long when I first got clean.
I was so use to just getting messed up.
Now I had all this time on my hands..LOL
And my regular activity is not an option anymore.
You will get to the point where you will incorporate other things in your routine.
UTIs suck!!! I havent had on ein years..thank goodness. I heard alka seltzer is a quick way to at least kill the discomfort. I tried it once and seemed to work. But I only had a vey mild case.
Just worry about letting your body heal some for now.
Get all that poison out.
Then when your feeling a little better. Find little things to do to fill your time.
I hated reading but have been doing it every couple nights. Even if it is only a few pages.
I organize everything too. So my desk has been kept very neat..LOL
Just hang in there.

Thanks guys. I am going to drag myself to a meeting, UTI or not. I need to be there. I also have work my sponsor gave me if I can sit still long enough.

Aysha, wow I just noticed that you are from Clifton Park. I lived there for several years as a kid, went to Shenendahowa. Small world!!!

Hope you feel better soon. Those UTI's are awful. Cranberry juice is really helpful especially if you have antibiotics too. Plus it has some good for you things in there! Just no mixing it with anything! Drink lots of it. You can get the light kind too if you worry about too much sugar. Good Luck!
