(((fluxcap's son)))

The one thing I've always worried about as a mother was something happening to my son after I had had too much to drink. Fortunately, nothing ever did. I was lucky.

Hey Purple Cat! Congrats on nearing the end of day 5! I'm ending day 6 myself, so I'm right there with ya! It was a tough evening....one of the neighbors had a birthday party. I'm so proud I stuck to diet coke and water. It was a little difficult at first, but then I was fine. Only got a couple comments...I think other people were more uncomfortable with me not drinking than I was! Weird.

How was your day? Hope all the Sept group is having a great weekend!

Ten days for me today. Very grateful. Got a sponsor who is wonderful, met with her yesterday for breakfast, and she gave me some good work to do.

I still have my moments where something will trigger me and I will want to cover up the feelings with a drink or drug, but I'm trying to let myself just feel instead.

My heart and mind are open, however, and I'm ready to follow wherever HP and the program lead me. Thanks and best wishes to all of you.

1st post

Today is day 10. It's been a long time coming. Today was a tough day - I had really strong cravings. I also had tickets to see Cheech & Chong in concert but decided that wasn't a good idea - too many associatiions. I'm very glad to be sober tonight. Right now I'd rather be craving a drink than having a drink. Look forward to getting to know all of you.

Well, I slipped. Tried to have one drink and that failed, as it always does.

Sorry Auxillo.

It's a common experiment - we always seem to thing the result will change but it never does. I've been a lot happier since I accepted that and gave up trying to drink

I woke up this morning, realized it was Sunday, and my first thought was....'how do I feel?' and my next thought was 'what did I do last night?' And then I realized I was sober, had a great night and am on board for having a great hangover-free day! Yippee!!

Today however, will be a hard one because my mom is coming over and we're going to bake and I know she will want wine or a drink, and it's sort of a girls day and I feel bad if I don't have a drink with her. She and I always have fun, "controlled" drinking- just a couple, so it's tempting to do so today. But I know I shouldn't. Help!

Now you know it's not worth it to try again!

Gosh did I feel hungover this morning - but no alcohol in this body! I wonder if it was the vitamins. I decided to take them before bed - vitamins are notorious for bothering my stomach.

Congrats to all doing well and (((hugs))) to our Sept peeps that are struggling.

Renee, I am finding other peoples expectations of my behavior one of the more difficult things to deal with too. Sure I could announce to all my family and friends that I am having a problem with booze, and I am sure they would all cut me some slack, but that is a public embarrassment I don't really want to deal with. Or I could lie and say that I I have meds, or a cold, or whatever, but lying does not seem healthy either. The best I can do is to tell them that I am staying away from drinking for a while because I have been getting a little carried away lately. While that is an understatement that is almost grotesque, it works, and it is about as much as I want to share right now.

Day 11 and missing it.

Good for you on Day 11. I hope things get easier for you soon.
