Five
Five
Five months today marks my longest period of sobriety in my 45 year drinking career. I call it career but it was more, it was my life. Alcohol controlled every facit of my life, it took custody of my marriages (3), family, friends, co-workers and job, my social life, my intellectual, emotional, and spiritual selves, everything. I was in a prison of my own making doing life without parole, and then came April 6, 2009 when I set the bottle down and realized that I held the key to my prison cell, what's more I had always held it, in my active stage I simply forgot. On that day I remembered, opened the door to my cell and simply walked away into the free world of sobriety. Regained my physical, intellectual, emotional and physical self. Regained everything and then some. My job now, moment by precious moment is to remain free and never forget I always hold the key to my liberation. Thank you for permitting me to ramble. Namaste
